Tara Grinsted

5 posts in this topic

I searched and searched and couldn't find a thing on all the forums about this, and since this hits rather close to home for me (I'm originally from Tifton and floated through Ocilla quite a bit in the time frame), I figured I'd get off my lazy kiester and throw up a post about it.

Offical Site: http://www.missingtara.com/ (Warning: Plays music and I haven't figured out how to stop it.)

I could keep pasting links from this case.

Tara Grinstead was a high school teacher a county over from where I grew up and where I have spent most of my life. One night she just kind of...Disappeared and that was that. There are a lot of theories, and a whole lot of finger pointing going on in Tifton and Ocilla even now after she's been declared legally dead and I've left home behind. But it's a case full of craziness, imo, and since there doesn't seem to be a topic on it, I figured I'd try to get a discussion going.

It kind of haunts me, in a way, because I personally know so many names involved in it.

Edited for typing boo-boos.

If her purse and keys were gone she left with someone. The car not being locked isn't that suspicious to me. The area might of had a serial killer and he is still loose or has been arrested for something else.

There was a suspected serial strangler that literally lived five minutes from me...I'll have to dig up the info on it, but he died earlier that year, I believe. Otherwise, no. No serial killer that anyone's been able to find a pattern for.

There's been a lot of side-eyeing at her ex, and I can almost believe it, considering the circumstances. Personally, I think she's at the bottom of Crystal Lake and they'll never find her.

Edit: Yep, this guy. He lived down the road from Tifton's water tower, but he died of cancer.

I wonder if the perp came up on foot....The unlocked car (with an envelope containing money in the console) and that Grinstead's purse and keys are missing could indicate that she went out with someone in her own car.

The perp could have returned the car later. Surely, the car was processed....

The latex glove found on the ground in the front yard indicates one thing for sure- that this was planned by the perp- but it could also indicate that there was a struggle there and if so, then she certainly didn't go willingly.

Since there's DNA, then it might just be a matter of time. Unfortunately, it appears it will take another serious crime before the perp's DNA is collected again because apparently, it remains to be linked with any other case, but I say that without the knowledge of which data bank has been accessed.

Considering it's Georgia, I wouldn't be too terribly hopeful about that DNA. Especially in a town as small as Ocilla. You blink, and you've driven through it, for the most part.

IIRC, it was determined the driver seat of the car was pushed back a lot farther than Tara would have had it, so there's that.

There's been a lot of theorizing that maybe the ex (who's an Ocilla cop, and who's DNA would be in the database) might have hired someone. And as hilarious as the idea is of someone in teeny tiny Ocilla putting a hit on anyone, that seems to be the one that's being clung to the tightest.
