No, it doesn't quite mean that the universe is 'thinking' - but as has been previously pointed out online, it might just mean there's more similarity between the very small and the very large than first appearances suggest.

It kind of works with my Pantheistic notions, the Universe is a living thing, but as you say there is still no actual proof of life or thought. So up I go on the agnostic fence again.

The problem I have with the above picture comparison is that signals travel easily between brain cells, but you have no idea of the vastnesses involved in the other picture -- largely disguised by the way lenses blur out intrinsic brightness.
