The first bionic hand that can feel

19 posts in this topic

The first bionic hand that allows an amputee to feel what they are touching will be transplanted later this year in a pioneering operation that could introduce a new generation of artificial limbs with sensory perception.

The patient is an unnamed man in his 20s living in Rome who lost the lower part of his arm following an accident, said Silvestro Micera of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

Interesting, curious about the battery methods, if it requires a battery of sorts.

That is awesome.

Going to be weird if we ever get to a point where a bionic limb is superiour to a natural on.

Heh, that's kind of how the origins of the Borg from star trek went.

Thought of this since ages, at last they came up with this thing.

I am eager to hear from the person, who gets this implant, how it feels like.

Will his hand be stronger than our hand?

Maybe? Maybe it will not be equally faster?

If scientists are able to able more efficient body parts than we already have then we may enter the age of cyborgs, I seriously think so.

Good luck to the man; being the first on this sort of thing rarely turns out well.

The scary thing is they don't eat you or kill you, they "assimilate" you.
