Alligator fitted with prosthetic tail

5 posts in this topic

An alligator has become the first in the world to be given a prosthetic tail.

The nine-year-old reptile, called Mr Stubbs, was left unable to swim after having his rear end bitten off in a fight.

The youngster struggled to keep upright in deep water and he faced a life on land.

This is the kind of thing we should be doing, helping other species who need us.

umm, where should we get the funding to go searching for animals with lost limbs? I wonder what the R & D cost for this project was. I doubt it was done for humane reasons, more likely it was done to prove it could be done.

Most likely, but funding should even be an issue. The fact the materials aren't supplied for free etc is rather disappointing.
