[Merged] Never tackle an angry pine Marten!

5 posts in this topic

This is the moment a vicious, sharp-toothed woodland animal interrupted a soccer match in Switzerland, and bit one of the players.

The Swiss Super League game on Sunday between FC Thun and Zurich was held up when the furry intruder ran onto the pitch.

The wild pine marten, which is similar to a weasel, hared onto the field and in a tussle chomped on the finger of Zurich defender Loris Benito when he tried to catch it.

A Swiss Super League game between FC Thun and Zurich was brought to a halt on Sunday when a furry intruder scurried onto the pitch and sank its teeth into a player’s hand.

The field crasher in question was a pine marten, a ferret-like mammal, and its entrance onto the green led to the Great Swiss Marten Chase of ’13.

The little devil was incredibly agile, dashing under benches and parkour-ing off sidewalls to avoid capture from security personnel brandishing nets (of course).

And of course the Benny Hill Theme makes it all the funnier. :D

Aww...poor little fur ball. I hope they didn't destroy him (but I'm not optimistic). They usually 'do them in' to check for possible rabies.

Your still banging that particular drum.Bloody hell. You could give Crawley Town a run for their money.Tbh I don't think there's any particular reason why it makes sense to ban it.The Pine Marten was in no danger of being stretchered off.The footballer in question had no intention of kicking it.The fact that he brought it to the ref's attention means he respected the Pine Marten's purpose on being on that particular field. He knew that some critters like wide, open spaces. So what if the particular game was put back a few minutes. The way your carrying on it should be put back forever.
