Game of Thrones

True enough, but it's also fair to point out that I recognise most of the movies on Warwick Davis' list, but the ones on Peter Dinklage's list are almost totally unknown to me. Of course, I am a fan of sci-fi and fantasy films, which generally include "non-human" characters.

Dinklage: He's great in 'The Station Agent' (a great film, though it's not sci-fi nor fantasy).

So many directions this story can go but I can see it ending with something like you suggest. Imagine a gutted westeros, weakend by internecine wars, starved during a long winter after the crops were destroyed in said wars and then the cringing populace decimated by the white walkers. Finally spring arrives and you look up and see three dragons led by an angry blonde empress flying at the head of an army of thousands. I have no idea at all where we are headed but ....

Go Dany go Dany go Dany .......*dances*

Dinklage: He's great in 'The Station Agent' (a great film, though it's not sci-fi nor fantasy).

That's the role that really brought him to everyone's attention .

Seems to be a new genre on Youtube, TV viewers recorded reactions of themselves as they watch the Red Wedding live. Quite entertaining some of them

Before this post, I hadn't even heard of the Lands of Ice and Fire. Sounds somewhat similar to Robert Jordan's Worlds of the Wheel of Time - not quite essential for the books, but sometimes useful and rarely actually used. I'll probably buy it just for the sake of saying I've owned it

Oberyn Martell has been cast :)

Pedro Pascal is the red viper

Personally, I think he's perfect. Hoping we get Mace, Victarion, and Euron soon.

That's cool. Glad there's a happy ending here somewhere. Those dogs are cool, though

I've just bought season 1 and 2 on Blu-Ray. Don't normally do that for TV shows unless they are special. Game of Thrones qualifies as special :D

Just to whet your appetites, some of the scenes I liked best in the show:

Varys at his beast and a truly scary scene on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTgiPmG7OLE

One of my favorite characters as played by the beautiful and talented: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWO0sRg3AUE

If this one doesn't make you go "F' Yeah!", you are dead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2tQ12lYz-c

I just watched the first season (a little late, I know) and I love it.

Love all the nakedness.

There was no internet porn so the real thing had to suffice. The book was very real as well and this is one of the best series ever produced IMHO. Even the changes are OK because there is no way to make a movie on so many 1500 page books but great acting covers many "sins" and I love the "reader" videos. That is a first.

I'm debating if I want to try and read the books or just go for the show for now, and hit the books later.

I just ordered the first 2 seasons. The third comes out on Feb.18th. Right now I'm just trying to keep everyone's names straight.

Good luck with the names. It's difficult to keep on top of every minor character and their affiliations, especially if they begin minor and become key characters (eg, Theon Greyjoy, Stannis and Renley Baratheon).

Of course, if you've read the books, it's a lot easier to construct the characters :tu:

I watched the first season then started to read the books , there is a hell of a lot more you will pick up from the books than the TV show , since then I have read all the books twice and listened to all the audio books once over , either way its all good !

I had read the Hobbit and LOTR way before the movies, and it definitely helped me appreciate the movies more.

A friend of mine has all the books....I may have to steal them for a while. :tu:
