MR.Blueprint Posted April 2, 2013 Author #176 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Know what I just realized, man. Screw an extra finger that is pointless. What we really need is an extra arm. An extra arm with an extra hand and everything! Yes! That we could use! Then I could type on my keyboard, and check my smartphone at the same time! Now THAT is something useful! "In March 2006, a baby boy identified only as Jie-jie was born in Shanghai with a fully formed third arm: he had two full-sized left arms, one ventral to the other. This is the only documented case of a child born with a fully formed supernumerary arm. It is an example of an extra limb on a normal body axis." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymelia Its STARTING TO HAPPEN!! mutations and birth defects are two different things
Frank Merton Posted April 2, 2013 #177 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Well I suppose the "perfect" being (obviously alien to the earth) would be maybe a meter thick and a few meters around, with all sorts of arms and tentacles and sense organs projecting upward and hundreds of feet for locomotion on its underside. Maybe it could also be green so it can photosynthesize and least some of its food.
White Crane Feather Posted April 2, 2013 #178 Share Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) I predict that human's will evolve an extra finger if the human race survives another 250,000-500,000 more years or so. Mutations is even happening now. We will evolve an extra finger because we use our fingers so much. Once we recive our extra finger we will also unlock more of our brain powers. We have more brain powers but that is another topic... Evolution really dosnt have anything to do with what we use more. It has to do with what's better at passing down our genes. our fingers don't really help us pass on genes as opposed to less fingers. Let's see. Smart man + stupid woman = Very few kids ( if any) Smart woman + stupid man = no kids at all Smart man + smart woman = 1-2 kids Stupid man + stupid woman = 4 + kids Mormons = many kids It looks like in the future we will probably all be stupid Mormons ( nothing against Mormons by the way... I like them very much) Edited April 2, 2013 by Seeker79

But it would only be green if the star its home planet star emits similar wavelength light as ours in theory it could use different methods for photosynthesis. With a massive brain. It would have to have sense organs projecting out 'front' somewhere as that would help it see where it is going. Body armor like a thick turtle shell to protect it from radiation and attack.
Just Dave Posted April 2, 2013 #180 Share Posted April 2, 2013 We will evolve! Huge evolution will take us.... .. .... back to primordial soup .. i would call it devolution .
Frank Merton Posted April 2, 2013 #181 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Well I kinda picture it coin-shaped with no front or back (except much thicker than a coin). It has sense organs all around so it can go in any direction and see both where it's going and where it's been (plus what is above it). I imagine many of the limbs could be used as weapons or even to shoot guns, so it might not need armor, but of course that doesn't hurt either. The central nervous system would centralize in the middle.

Just Dave Posted April 2, 2013 #185 Share Posted April 2, 2013 we are the only "beings" in this universe the planets and stars are what is alive in our solar system not us That is a very empty statement... There are huge chances that there are other civilizations out there, like i said before we, humans, are proof life can exists somewhere else. When someone makes contact in next 1000 years they will look at us as we are the aliens...same goes for us looking for other " aliens " . I was wondering since voyager will soon be leaving our solar system, what happens when contact is lost and the thing drifts away and flies near some other solar system that has a civilization in it. stillvoice Posted April 2, 2013 #187 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Physical evolution is unimportant the pertinent question is how will human consciousness evolve and will we eventually become passive and tolerant beings who have a greater understanding of ourselves and the world we inhabit. The great turning points in human history have been marked by changes in consciousness but currently as beings we have entered a time of hubris and decadence which will need to addressed before we can move forward to discover a new epoch of consciousness. The truly meaningful upheavals throughout history have always been of ideas which have changed the course of history the next revolution needs to be against human nature.

Rocky Planets like ours are created from the debris of supernova explosions of large stars. Our sun is NOT a large star, it is in fact quite small in comparison to the range of sizes of stars out there. Everything in the universe is made from the same stuff. Matter. The same elements that make up the earth are found abundantly throughout the universe. Therefore it is only logical to assume that more than likely systems like ours could actually be quite common, and at the very least considering the vast number a system like ours but not ours is almost certainly out there somewhere.

TSS Posted April 2, 2013 #195 Share Posted April 2, 2013 lets all review it and show me where i became "childish" and called everybody dumb I didn't direct it at any one person, but at everyone. Iron_Lotus Posted April 2, 2013 #196 Share Posted April 2, 2013 first official negative reply in this comment this point has nothin to do with the debate *yawn* you heard the "mod" back on topic coffey brought up an interesting point that we may evolve to apoint where we will not need fingers as our technology grows by leaps and bounds, i found that to be a very interesting point.
MR.Blueprint Posted April 2, 2013 Author #197 Share Posted April 2, 2013 we use all our fingers all the time ur brain is so closed u dont realize it u use all ur fingers when u srive yea or naw? u use all ure fingers when you shoot a firearm yea or no? sources http://en.wikipedia....iki/Polydactyly Ulnar or postaxial polydactyly: The incidence in Caucasians is reported as 1 in 1,339 live births, compared with 1 in 143 live births in Africans and African Americans. Also, in patients with African ancestry ulnar polydactyly mostly occurs isolated, whereas the presentation in Caucasians is often associated with a syndrome africans were the first homo sapiens and have the least amount of neanderthal dna maybe hats why its occurring in them more source wiki: In almost 14% of all patients, this type of polydactyly is hereditary. It usually passes on in an autosomal dominant manner with variable expression and incomplete penetrance. It is genetically heterogenic, meaning that mutations in different genes can be the cause first comment of me sayin anything bout a closed mind and it s not in a derogatory way
