RavenHawk Posted April 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Gun control is working. Maniacs are seeking other means to kill and maim. Nobody was killed this time but it will only take time for these killers to learn how to effectively kill with a knife. If this guy had gone for the throat instead of arms and backs, there would have been several deaths. Even an ice pick to the base of the skull will cripple, leaving a vegetable. http://www.abqjournal.com/main/2013/04/29/news/4-stabbed-during-church-services.html

RavenHawk Posted April 29, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 29, 2013 If someone wants to kill someone they will find a way. This is an absolute axiom. One of the few absolutes in life. Our Founding Fathers understood this and that is why we have the 2nd Amendment. They took gun control out of the hands of government and put in into the hands of personal responsibility and good judgment and morals. Human ingenuity at its worst. Actually I would say it is his ingenuity at its best. It is his intent that is at his worse.

Coffey Posted April 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) your expertise in using a knife worries me You wouldn't say that if he just saved you from being stabbed to death slowly by a bunch of gang members. In most cases a sane and calm mind is far more precise at knowing how to kill. Nut jobs don't tend to have a steady hand or calm head. (I knew you where joking, just used your comment to make a point) Edited April 29, 2013 by Coffey

RavenHawk Posted April 29, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted April 29, 2013 I'm curious to know what type of weapon this is. If I may, it looks like a Kukri (Ghurka) and may be British Army issue? I believe that its main purpose was to defeat the shield by giving an angle around the shield. The notch near the base was used to grip the end of the shield to pull it away.

I've never seen this type of knife before. Wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of that! Talk about painful.... That downward blade is really lethal. Good for cracking coconuts.... (I mean that as a metaphor... lol) They are often preferred in jungles to larger machete's because you get more downwards force with a conveniently smaller blade. I have several of these in my collection and they're not to be argued with! Oh that is nice, I would love a Kukri like that in my collection. I had the honour to serve for 12 years with the Royal Gurkha Rifles. The 'notch' BTW, is to prevent blood running down the blade and wetting the handle, thus reducing the grip. One of 'my' lads showing off....... Edited April 30, 2013 by ealdwita

Clarakore Posted May 1, 2013 #16 Share Posted May 1, 2013 So have they released a motive or are they covering it up? Seems like the attacker had a surname that was different than those he attacked.
Michelle Posted May 1, 2013 #17 Share Posted May 1, 2013 So have they released a motive or are they covering it up? Seems like the attacker had a surname that was different than those he attacked. The attacker thought the preacher was a mason according to one news source. What do the names have to do with it?
