From Edward Lorenz’s discovery of the Butterfly Effect, to Mitchell Feigenbaum’s calculation of a universal constant, to Benoit Mandelbrot’s concept of fractals, which created a new geometry of nature, Gleick’s engaging narrative focuses on the key figures whose genius converged to chart an innovative direction for science. In Chaos,Gleick makes the story of chaos theory not only fascinating but also accessible to beginners, and opens our eyes to a surprising new view of the universe.

White Crane Feather Posted May 2, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) can you give a condensed version for those of us unlucky enough to be using mobile phones that won't play the video please seeker? :-) Hmmm it plays on my iPhone. Well basically the first video starts from the largest scale model we have of the universe the cosmic back ground radiation map then zooms all the way to subatomic particles to the end of our current knowledge: the second is manbelbrot zoom sequence. Starting at the highest scales and zooming in. It is very very similar. I have seen maps of the the large galactic structures. Everything evolves as fractals. Which makes perfect sense actually when you think about it. Fractal geometry is about likness but changing with a set of rules. The universe evolving must be similar from moment to moment evolving based upon the laws of physics. I don't think it's possible to have anything other than a fractal universe. But it dosnt stop there. Fractal constructs are self generating. Life is a fractal. Organisms reproduce in likeness but change based on a set of rules. When i Contimplate this for a moment, life must be prolific and the constant of he universe. There could be reason to think that the universe is alive and concious. Mr Right Wing Posted May 2, 2013 #10 Share Posted May 2, 2013 Is there any doubt that fractal geometry plays an important part in creation? You know, you're part of the fractal too. Have you ever noticed things you've thought about myseriously popping up in reality? lol

Lava_Lady Posted May 3, 2013 #12 Share Posted May 3, 2013 . yes third eye, it says that your porn stash is remarkably well hidden!! :-D If you like that type of documentary you may like 10X10 a short but eye opening little existential piece you can find on YouTube. What the Bleep Do We Know - prepare to have mind blown if you haven't seen it yet And I just watched Existence today, guy goes around asking different people, religious authorities & random people what the meaning of life is. My favorite answer is from a 13 year old girl. I'd like to hear what you think of any one of those if you chose to watch.

Its the will of the internet deities .... personally I just like to watch vids of forums and seminars without the fancy computer graphics to 'make a point clearer' some just don't understand what the computer graphics is expected to do ... I like sites like this .... http://www.youthfederation.org/index.php/projects/young-amb-for-peace Young Ambassadors for Peace are a global network of young leaders representing the religious, racial, and ethnic diversity of the human family. Sharing the ethical principles of the world's spiritual traditions, they are committed to promoting reconciliation, overcoming barriers, encouraging equitable distribution of resources, and building peace through nonviolent engagement.
