'adopt-an-alien-planet' campaign.

35 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

a scheme launched today invites members of the public to suggest names (for a small fee of course...) for the hundreds of exoplanets that have been found.

all proceeds will go towards funding space research.

for a little lightheartedness, what name would YOU choose....?

I should imagine both of those would be forerunners! along with krypton, and my personal choice, LV426.

I've always been partial to naming something it's absurd opposite. Like if it were a tropical planet like the Bahamas I'd name the planet Holocaust or something, maybe Frigid Hell Sphere.

When my daughter was younger I helped her name a pet hamster Mauler. :D

What if they discovered an exoplanet and called it Obama. it turned out there were primates that had Obama's face. That would be funny.

Well, it says a lot for you when you think calling someone a homosexual is an insult. Well done, good sir. You continue to bolster your already fine standing on this forum with posts like this.

I think it would be awesome if an exoplanet was named after a planet from H2GT2G. They should totally do that.
