I heard about this yesterday and saw a picture. They are not as spherical as one would imagine. More akin to rocks without being smooth and roughly in the shape of a sphere but not really.

And for such a link to have no pics is beyond me, so I found some anyway

Definitely a misleading description. I saw the banner on CNN claiming mysterious spheres. Just the night before I saw the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) and was like oh noes alien invasion!!! Then I saw that exact picture you posted first and was like meh...

:tu: Yeh it is a bit of a let down isnt it? I was sucked in by the threads description too expecting to see gleaming ball bearings or such like!!

And why need a robot when someone clearly has been there hanging string sections and paper labels?

there are actually real perfectly round spheres theyve found in places around the world some weighing a few tons which are really amazing and hard to grasp. not to mention the ones found in south africa that cant be disputed as being artificially created (not natural) which contain elements of metals unknown to us which date back to the precambrian age (2.8 billion years).

2.8 billion year old spheres: http://www.virtuesci...ed-spheres.html

from costa rica some weighing 16 tons! not to mention diorite ( the only rock harder is diamond)

yet these are supposed to be carved out to a perfect circle with flint stones lol.

more found in bosnia: http://www.robertsch...e dowell ct.htm

then theres these purple glassy ones: http://beforeitsnews.com/strange/2013/01/mysterious-purple-spheres-found-in-arizona-desert-2446892.html

theres definitely a major chapter missing in history.

The various claims that these objects are either "perfectly round" or perfect spheres is now known to be incorrect as directly observed by Heinrich. These specimens vary widely in shape, from noticeably flattened spheres to distinct disks. As illustrated by Heinrich, some of the Klerksdorp spheres are intergrown with each other, like a mass of soap bubbles. The observations and figure refute claims that these objects are either always spherical or isolated in their occurrence. As noted by Heinrich, even grooved spheres are not perfect spheres and some consist of intergrown spheres.

Similarly, the claims that these objects consist of metal, i.e. "...a nickel-steel alloy which does not occur naturally..." according to Jochmans[4] are definitely false as discovered by Cairncross and Heinrich. The fact that many of the web pages that make this claim also incorrectly identify the pyrophyllite quarries, from which these objects came, as the "Wonderstone Silver Mine" is evidence that these authors have not verified the validity of, in this case, misinformation taken from other sources since these quarries are neither known as silver mines nor has silver ever been mined in them in the decades in which they have been in operation.

Heinrich notes that one of Michael Cremo's sources regarding the allegedly anomalous spheres was the Weekly World News, a satirical tabloid, which he described as "...a [sic] unreliable source of data for discussing the origins of the South African spheres described as used by Forbidden Archeology".

Hold on - if those pictures are robot-produced because of dangerous soil and tight quarters, who strung that grid and put the numbers down? Something doesn't compute.

"It also seems that the spheres are so delicately balanced that, even with modern technology, they would need to have been made in zero gravity. The story goes that scientists at NASA were totally flawed when they examined them, and were unable to come up with any explanation."

Did you actually read the article you linked to?

Stone spheres of Costa Rica

The spheres range in size from a few centimetres to over 2 metres (6.6 ft) in diameter, and weigh up to 15 tons. Most are sculpted from gabbro, the coarse-grained equivalent of basalt. There are a dozen or so made from shell-rich limestone, and another dozen made from a sandstone.

http://web.ku.edu/~hoopes/balls/intro.htm

How were they made?

The balls were most likely made by reducing round boulders to a spherical shape through a combination of controlled fracture, pecking, and grinding. The granodiorite from which they are made has been shown to exfoliate in layers when subjected to rapid changes in temperature. The balls could have been roughed out through the application of heat (hot coals) and cold (chilled water). When they were close to spherical in shape, they were further reduced by pecking and hammering with stones made of the same hard material. Finally, they were ground and polished to a high luster. This process, which was similar to that used for making polished stone axes, elaborate carved metates, and stone statues, was accomplished without the help of metal tools, laser beams, or alien life forms.

From the link:

Robert and I looked and looked, we counted about 20 visible stones that were being called stone spheres but, they were not even round……….Semir stated there were over thirty, now it is written there are over 40????? We did not see that many. I will just show you some pictures of some of the ones we found that could kind of fall into the category of being round, or spherical.

You corrected yourself, while you were right in the first place (about the weight of the Costa Rica stones).

That's all.

If they are real, I don't see anything special about them.

Not unusual for the "ancients" to collect or deposit natural rock formations to promote ritualistic theology, either for living human ceremony, or burial "additions"

I mean, these are not made out of machined titanium, depleted uranium or some material not available at that time.

So I guess I don't really see anything special about them, other than, perhaps, from a past cultural archealogical viewpoint.

Just my opinion. Hopefully, and I'm sure, further studies will be made at this site.

That must be nice, spreading ignorance AND taking no responsibility for doing so.

You carve 16 tonnes and what do you get?

Another day older and deeper in dept.
