A daily rasher of bacon might not seem very healthy but 105-year-old Pearl Cantrell swears by it.

What’s the secret to an extra-long life? For one centenarian, it just might be bacon. A 105-year-old Texas woman, who became a widow at age 38 and worked as everything from a cotton picker to a hay baler while raising 7 kids on her own, says bacon is the secret to her longevity, the Huffington Post reports.

I'm not sure about this, if you consider all those Patriarchs in the Old testament who were all about 150 years old, and i don't think that Bacon usually formed a major part of their diet. :unsure2:

True story, a Jewish woman where I worked used to insist on having her days off for the jewish festival, and yet many a time had a bacon roll for mid morning tea.

With all the preservatives that are in commercial bacon, one should live to be 200.

I'd rather have a happy life than a long one but with bacon it seems to be a win/win. ^_^

Some people just hit the genetic lottery with bodies that can withstand all the smoke and grease they can throw at it and still survive over a century. Others aren't that lucky.

Yeah BS. It's like some people in there 90s who still smoke. So I guess cigarettes are also good for longevity.

Exactly! Why do something to extend your life by a few years if it makes you more miserable for all of your years?

I just fried and ate 10 pounds, that ought to add a bunch of years!

Bacon is very tasty for some of us. However, to associate it, directly, with extended longevity is wrong.

There is simply no evidence at all apart from association from that one person.

It would be like saying that water has been proven to sustain life(which is true), yet all who drank water has eventually died(which is also true)

So, association, in and of itself, is flawed.
