The first US space station, Skylab, was launched forty years ago with a simple but far-reaching brief: expand man's knowledge of the Sun and prove that humans can live and work in space for extended periods. Three separate crews successfully achieved that, so why aren't more of us living in space yet?

More people will start living in space once the money has been collected from the mega rich to fund it.

Nah, doesn't work that way.

More people will start living in space when living in space becomes more profitable.

It isn't so much a matter of funding as it is investing.

The investments are the money to fund it.
