Switzerland Questions U.S. Over CIA Drunk Driving Gambit

The Swiss government has formally asked the U.S. for "clarification" on a claim from alleged NSA leaker Edward Snowden that CIA agents in Geneva pushed a banker to drink and drive as part of a dangerous recruitment ploy.

Snowden, the man who claims to have given top secret documents on the National Security Agency's vast surveillance programs to two major newspapers, briefly discusses the scheme in an interview with the U.K. newspaper The Guardian, saying it was a "formative" moment that led him to question the "rightness" of U.S. intelligence.

In an attempt to learn secret financial information, Snowden alleged that undercover CIA agents would get the banker drunk and "encourage" him to drive home in his car. When the banker was eventually arrested for drunk driving, the CIA operatives offered to help him out of the jam, paving the way for recruitment as a source.

"Much of what I saw in Geneva really disillusioned me about how my government functions and what its impact is in the world," Snowden told The Guardian. "I realized that I was part of something that was doing far more harm than good."

A spokesperson for Switzerland's Federal Department of Foreign Affairs told ABC News the department had "taken note" of Snowden's claims and has sent a "diplomatic note" to the U.S. Embassy in Bern asking "for clarification of the matter."

"In accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Switzerland expects the members of the diplomatic missions in Bern and the members of the permanent mission in Geneva to comply with the laws and rules of the country of residence," a statement from the foreign ministry read.

At the time of the alleged incident, Snowden said he was working undercover for the CIA in Geneva maintaining computer network security. The CIA has declined to comment on Snowden's case, but the Swiss foreign ministry confirmed that he publicly held the position of "an attaché" with the permanent U.S. mission to the United Nations in Geneva from March 2007 to February 2009. A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment for this report.

Snowden Showed Evidence Of US Hacking China To Hong Kong Newspaper

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has told a Hong Kong newspaper that the U.S. government has been hacking Hong Kong and Chinese networks for at least four years.

The comments were made as part of the South China Morning Post's exclusive interview with Snowden — his first since revealing himself on Sunday.

Snowden reportedly showed reporter Lana Lam documents that showed the NSA had been hacking computers in Hong Kong and on the mainland since 2009. He estimated there were hundreds of targets in Hong Kong and mainland China, including the Chinese University of Hong Kong. None of the documents revealed any information about Chinese military systems, Snowden said.

“We hack network backbones – like huge internet routers, basically – that give us access to the communications of hundreds of thousands of computers without having to hack every single one,” Snowden told Lam.

China's own online espionage efforts were put in the spotlight earlier this year after a report from U.S. security firm Mandiant that accused military-linked groups of hacking major U.S. companies. After that story, China hit back saying Washington was the "real hacking empire."

Get the word out:

In Just A Few Hours, A Bunch Of People Plan To 'Troll The NSA' Online

In light of all this "NSA reading your emails" buzz, someone has taken up the mantle to fight back.

It's called Operation Troll The NSA. By sending innocuous emails loaded with potentially subversive buzzwords and phrases at 7 PM Eastern tonight, the aim is to trip up and break any technology monitoring your communication.

They provide the following "script" that you could hypothetically copy and email to anyone you like (emphasis theirs).

Hey! How’s it going? I’m all right.

My job is so sh---y I wish I could overthrow my boss. It’s like this oppressive regime where only true believers in his management techniques will stay around. I work marathon-length hours and he’s made all these changes that have made it the worst architecture firm to work at in Manhattan. Like he moved the office to the Financial District and fired my assistant. She was the only one who knew where the blueprints were! I need access to those blueprints to complete my job! F my life, right? And he keeps trying to start all these new initiatives to boost revenue, but seriously we just need to stick to what we do best. There’s only one true profit center. I seriously feel ready to go on strike at any second.

I just read this article about how these free radical particles can cause the downfall of good health and accelerate aging. These could actually cause death to millions of Americans. If these particles are flying around undetected everywhere, does that mean we’re all radicalized?

Have you seen the second season of Breaking Bad? I just finished it. I couldn’t believe that episode where they poison the guy with ricin! That was the bomb! I won’t say any more because I don’t want to reveal the earth-shattering events to come.

Oh! So I’ve been planning a big trip for the summer. I’m thinking of visiting all of the most famous suspension bridges in the United States. So probably like the Golden Gate Bridge, The Brooklyn Bridge, and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. I’m gonna bring my younger brother and I know he’ll want to go to bars, so I’m thinking of getting him a fake drivers license, but I hope that doesn’t blow up in my face.

Okay, I gotta run! I’m late for flight school. I missed the last class where we learn how to land, so I really can’t miss another one. Talk to you later!

"Hidden truths," hmmmm ...you mean like a "S"uperstorm, perhaps, coming on the heels of the passing of the real life captain Kirk, who really went where no man had gone before, and who would die within three days of the appearance of a storm with his myth-name-sake?

Only the Author of Life could have conveyed such information, a ... "hidden truth" that isn't for sale.

For those who don't know, the NSA's headquarters are located at Ft. Meade, MD. That's what is depicted on the curious forecast map you see below, accompanied by a video of a man stirring Snow .....den ... with a curious stick.

"Finally, I can see you crystal clear ..." is all about those "hidden truths" and their revelation, so valued by the NSA.

Above and below, horizon to horizon.

Lateral contortion, buried beside them.

Foregone conclusion, finally found.

Washboard contusion, revelry bound.

Wow! Repercussions to come, it would seem.

I wish I were better with a computer, because it would be cool to spam the NSA with fraudulent emails. :gun:

They're a bunch of bright folks, but when you arguably give them the faceless name of their greatest leaker of all time, it kind of makes one wonder ....

Why aren't they paying me 200k?

Perhaps this is why ...

Real power is perfected through weakness. So the poorer a true prophet is ... the stronger he will become.

As long as he stays in Hong Kong I wonder how they plan to make it stick (and besides Hong Kong I doubt many other countries would extradite him to the US, the cold war is over and most are pretty p***ed about the implications of this scandal on their soil).

Telling the world that the US is spying on them=treasonous

i'd say it is obvious. pretty much anyone with half a brain knows it, usa, and there rest of the countrys are spying on each other every second of every day.

so i can't see how saying what most kno wanyway is treasonous. same goes for spying on usa population, all gvmnts do it, and anyone that is not compleatly dumb knows it.

why are ppl even surpriced by it? there is noting knew or uknown in what he "uncovered". but regardless of how obvious it is, some will still not believe it, and will scream conspirasy and lies. some of such "bright" examples are on this very board.

I suspect he was recruited by the Chinese long ago.

One has to wonder if he was compromised against his will. He left his family behind. Then again it could be the case of a disillusioned and ideological malcontent who didn't care about his family.

"No. My family does not know what is happening … My primary fear is that they will come after my family, my friends, my partner. Anyone I have a relationship with …

I will have to live with that for the rest of my life. I am not going to be able to communicate with them. They [the authorities] will act aggressively against anyone who has known me. That keeps me up at night."

Edward Snowden, NSA files source: 'If they want to get you, in time they will'

If he was blackmailed or something then the above seems quite sad. If he willingly chose this course of action then it appears selfish.

Just who is going to "go after" his family? That sounds juvenile and melodramatic.

oh idk the CIA or NSA the people he is leaking information about. Well not now that he has huge media coverage he is pretty much safe, if something happened to him people would think its fishy.

Here's a graphic that I created at the beginning of this year. I didn't publish it, for one reason or another, but I'm sure the NSA can see the date that file was created.

In their world, clairvoyance is quite real, but in the realm of masked men, no one can touch this ... "Angle."

It's amazing how it heats up in here, when revelations fly.

As you can see, for some reason on January 27, 2013 I had become very unhappy about prisms, which is a very strange thing to be unhappy about.

The Latin on that flying one reads ... (Nunc) = now, at the present time, soon, at this time..... (Diripio) = to tear in pieces, lay waste, devastate, plunder, to snatch away, to separate, tear apart, pillage, to plunder, tear to pieces .....

The recent revelations by Mr. Snow ...den have, without any doubt, been a devastating blow to the PRISM program, which is what happens when you mess with someone who is plugged into the Big Daddy outlet.

I wonder what "hidden truths" and revelations popped out of the NSA's PRISM surveillance program, when they plugged in a very provocative premonition that I published here on June 14, 2013.

In just five days, something will happen on earth, that will indeed connect the Old World with the New; and that curious theme I depicted, with a theme song known to hundreds of millions, and the final travels of this individual.

9038542405_7321dbbae7_o.jpg9040700852_3e4af48965_o.jpg

When asked during James Gandolfini's 2004 interview on 'Inside The Actors Studio', what turns you off, he replied, "greed." When asked, what sound or noise do you hate, he replied, "cars on a highway." When further questioned, what profession other than yours would you like to undertake, he replied, "environmental lawyer," and finally, when asked, what profession would you absolutely not like to attempt, he replied, "oil man."

That interview aired on Oct. 17, 2004. In just eight years, within 5 days of Superstorm Sandy's birth, she would make landfall in New Jersey, resulting in the greatest natural disaster his state's history.

I was a fan, he was an environmentalist at heart, and may he RIP.

Salute ....

I know nothing about this "socialist organization" that Glen Greenwald spoke to this week, but he explains in much greater detail what led Snowden to come forward with these revelations.

Normally have a short attention span for this sort of thing, but this speech is worth a long look. Skip over the socialist introduction to the 10.30 minute mark. It shows the mind of not just Snowden, but Glen Greenwald. I can't ever recall being so impressed with someone, in terms of the quality of arguments he's able to make, even impromptu.

Thank you Mr. Greenwald for telling U.S. what's been going on. Thank you Mr. Snowden for your bravery.

Far out.

It's not a conspiracy. They're openly trying to hire prophets, and one of them turned into a revelation, literally.

Security

Investigators

If you thrive on discovering clues that uncover hidden truths, a career as an NSA Investigator may be for you.

On their career website, the NSA advertises for "prophets," essentially.

In other words, they're trying to hire people who can theoretically put the pieces of a puzzle together, hopefully to thwart another terrorist attack on the Homeland. Yet when it came to their own disastrous revelation, it was someone they had been targeting for years, who arguably foresaw their attacker coming, BY NAME.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The third curious reference I made to "snow" in advance of Snowden's coming, ironically appeared only three days(June 2, 2013) before Edward Snowden's revelations appeared in the Guardian Newspaper(June 5, 2013.) It not only pointed to "snow" as a curious part of the post's theme, but the thread was about a "whistle-blower."Heard of Julia Davis, whistle-blower @ DHS? For the record, I have no idea who this lady is, nor did I bother to connect to that link in the OP, which is another mystery to the invisible army, I bet.

The question that the good people at Homeland should be asking, and there are many who are good, is how is this possible, and more importantly, who wanted them to see these curious snowy puzzle pieces laid out ahead of time? Why would someone lay these "hidden truths" on the table, two only days in advance, in appropriate threads; such that they couldn't dismiss them by chance, and knowing that they would be fools for doing so?

COUNT THEM ....

1) Post 458 March 3, 2012 (The NSA Headquarters is the letter "A" on the posted map), a faceless figure stirs Snow with a curious stick in the embedded video.

2) Post 48 May 16, 2013 (Thread: Consider All Communications Monitored) - Name of the band performing the song, "Snow Patrol."

And last, but certainly not least ...

3) Post 10 June 2, 2013 (Thread: Heard of Julia Davis, whistle-blower @ DHS?) - featuring "Snowy," our new hero.

What's the first rule in law enforcement? Never ignore coincidences ..... ?

So how do they explain this curious string of them, which are clearly related to the serious crime of espionage. Will they casually deny these three "hidden truths," in relation to not just what Snow would do, but how and who he would do it to? The facial profile probably creeps them out more than anything.

That's the whole point, isn't it, the biggest "hidden truth" in the entire history of your organization, that you cannot explain to anybody, because if you dared indict this hidden man as a co-conspirator, you'd be revealing the biggest secret on earth called "HOW."

A secret, which will make all men's faces turn snow white.

9170205277_8d775a9d55_o.jpg

Edward Snowden .... a.k.a. "Snowy"

The "War on Terror," becomes a war on religion of all kinds, eventually. It starts with Islam, but that's just the appetizer.

It's why I've decided to worship these two, instead. :nw:

Raptor

Greenwald has a very quick mind. His impromptu replies to Bill Maher on Maher's show were excellent, and so to his answer to the idiot David Gregory. Precise and relevant answers, with never an "uh" or other type of pause.

A very smart and perceptive and principled fellow whose heart is in the right place. :tu:

It's not a conspiracy. They're openly trying to hire prophets, and o

ne of them turned into a revelation, literally.

Raptor, you get mega points for being determined and unwavering in your beliefs and convictions without being negative toward those who doubt them in this one instance.

More points for not claiming you yourself are a prophet, here right now, because no one should self-declare that but allow others to describe or call them that instead.

While I have found a few of your posts fascinating, especially in the CT section, and am not a total skeptic of prohecy and believe it can and does exist to some degree, it is unfortunate yours is based on doom and gloom, on conflict theory, on us vs them narratives, and in not trusting others.

Instead your gift could be used to foster hope, cohesion, cooperation, and be used to promote healing instead of fear and stress among others who might tune in to your message. Not asking you to change at all because you have to follow your heart but if you ever wonder why a believer like myself cannot be more receptive that is why.

Surely the dominant and negative forms of authority, which you disapprove of, will not take us into a new world but it is coming by those who hold hope in each other and the Universe and not just those who want a struggle, battle, or war, whether on the political or astral plane. In my view the wannabe revolutionaries and those self-styled astral warriors are part of the problem and negative vibes they claim to oppose. Like crabs in a bucket they will suck you down with their pessimistic outlook.

All in all follow your path as I will mine, don't stop, surely you perform some service for the common good even if I cannot relate or approve but I do have enough faith in the Universe to understand all works towards a common goal, beknownst or unbeknownst, including you and our security apparatus. I now have more trust in them than in those who oppose them. That won't be changing.

It still bears repeating, your presentation is fascinating.
