Animals being more prone to seeing ghosts

Matt

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

When I lived with my parents we had a Jack Russel Terrier who started to behave in a strange manor.  He would bark at things that we could not see,  follow things around the room and in one instance he got so frightened he tried to escape from an upstairs window. The neighbours dog would not follow its owner up the driveway.  At the time we had no idea that it was due to paranormal activiy until we started to experience it ourselves but thats another story.  Does anyone know why they can sense more than we can?

Matt,

I have the same opinion as you.  I believe that some animals and children are able to see what we can not.  Maybe one reason why your jack russel may be acting that way is because dogs have ten times more the senses we have.  Maybe they can sense energy that our minds can not pick up.  My shih tzu does  unusal things too.  I recall one time when he sat at one end of our hallway for like 45 minutes and just stared at nothing.  Sometimes he would sit and look up at the sofa as if someone was talking to him, he just wagged his tail and kept looking up at the sofa at absolutely nothing.  Gave me the hibby-jibby's.  Maybay its just dog nature, but I doubt it. :-/

I believe 'spirits' have an energy that is felt through vibrations, and animals being more sensitive than humans, can feel these vibrations.

Just a thought.

I think your all right in that animals are much more prone to seeing spirits or energy than we are. I have a small pomeranian and he too does many strange things. He barks at nothing, is sometimes frightened of nothing in the room and stares at stuff I can't see. I've had many friends with cats, and I myself think they are the most prone to seeing the unnatural. If anyone has ever owned a cat I'm sure you'd agree that they stare at almost everything...but really nothing...and for hours.

I'm sure I've read somewhere a couple years ago that there senses where a little better than ours besides the obvious (dog ears), but there must be something more scientific to it.

Another 2 things animals, specifically dogs, are "aware" of:

1.) Earthquakes. We have a purebred mutt of dubious origins (some sort of white terrier, with a face that is probably the result of too many loose morals amongst the K9 kind), who seems to tuck tail and dig in the yard only before an earthquake.

2.) Death, which is more related to this topic. I worked for a mortuary removal company (transporting deceased persons) as a driver, and would go into peoples homes. This happened to me one night.

About 12:30 or so I was paged on my NexTel for a residential call in Long Beach, CA where a 45 year old man (Ill with hold his name for his familys sake) has passed away. It was a sudden death, a heart attack, and he had two beautiful dogs, a black lab and a golder retriever. He had been a truck driver, and had been home for about a week on a semi-vacation. His wife said the dogs had been "snubbing him" the last several days, like they did when he was about to go on a long haul, and then just that evening they wouldnt leave him alone. Did the dogs sense that he was about to pass? I think so. I think that dogs are literally mans best friend, and are prone to see and feel things that we can't. I know my dog has acted wierd at times, one thing he does is panic sometimes when a member of the family is driving, and then only to have the member come home and relate how they were "this close to being killed" in some sort of near collision. He also seems to know when a member of the family is coming home, even if the rest of us have no idea when.

So, to sum it all up, I know dogs are connected on a more "spiritual" level than us measly humans are. But at least we have opposable thumbs.

another reason could be that animals can see a slightly different spectrum to us, perhaps the one that ghosts inhabit, babies can aso see ghosts and things that are not there because they can supposedly see in such a way that lets them hear colours and see sounds.

I feel that both animals and children can see spirits because they have not been influenced not to by society yet i.e. the classic "there is no such thing as ghosts" story that most parents teach thier children.

I like the theory in wich animals pick up on subtler vibrations than the average human. Possibly it's as simple as the fact that they have fur and can actually use the hairs as subtle antena .

Hi, i have a problem for years i have felt things in my house. If you are in the basement you can hear someone walking. When my daughter was younger she has seen things. Well i have had my brother annoint several times in the past and things would be better. I sence things are back for a month my husband started feeling something walking in the bed. He thought it was our cat. But she would not be in there. Now i am feeling it its like someone walking on the end of the bed where our feet are and then walks between us and stops. I did not feel afraid. Cleo our cat was shut out of the room. This is getting very strange. Can anyone help explain this. The strange thing is my sister had this happen at her house back in the summer. NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if your not scared Elain try talking to it . Sometimes this kind of spirit is somebody trying to get you just to pay attention to them because they need to tell you something. With your sister encountering a similar thing then it is probably somebody you both know and love who has passed on . Just tell them that they have your attention and ask them what it is they want .

I believe that animals and small children are capable of seeing things that adults can't, maybe its an ability that is lost as we get older and are more sceptical about such things. My cat for instance will gaze into space at things which we can't see. I believe in things such as a sixth sense.

smile.gif I agree with HD. But then I was not brought up to believe there were no such things as ghosts etc, and I firmly believe that a child should be able to make up their own minds about such things.... biggrin.gif

Maybe it has something to do with their hearing becuz u know that sometimes that you can pick up a ghost voice with a recording thing. Maybe dogz can hear that becuz of their sensitive hearing and acuteness towardz high-pitched sounds! And their eyesight is supposed to be in black and white. They can probably see the ghost better becuz there is no colour to distract them or anything. Or maybe vibrations! My dog is 85% deaf but he still knows where people are because of vibrations!! Also because they are closer to the ground and have four feet to pick up vibrations!!! Of course, thats just my opinion!! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

About a year ago, I had some friends over and one of them brought her dog along to play with my dog and my cat. Anyways, we were playing a card game when all of a sudden we noticed that our animals were sitting side by side and staring at the wall in my living room. They were transfixed on the wall for some reason. The wall has nothing on it. We tried to call them (well the dogs) over to us but all they'd do was look in our direction for a second, wag their tails and then stare back at the wall again. The cat as well. They didn't move for at least 1/2 hr...not even for treats. And for my dog especially, that's weird.

It's never happened since that I have seen. unsure.gif

Man tell me out got out a camera and took a picture at the spot!!

I have spent many a night trying to get something wierd on the digi camera, just taking random shots around the house but I never get anything......... But then again that is a good thing I'd go Ape $hit if I loaded up the pictures and saw a face in the mirror or something.

Maybe off the subject but I do the sense every once in a while(Like I am not alone. Funny though I go hiking in wilderness at night as well as day, and usually alone, but out there its always peaceful and calm. Even know the cyotes/whatever are there, everything leaves me alone. My point being I only get the.......RADAR CONTACT.....In man made places.) and I always have this reaction that the only thing I'd be able to relate it to was being able to control your fight or flight stimuli, as I like to think of it as RAISE SHIELDS, CAPTAIN!! Like a high powered energy barrier going up around me, and its usually makes everything instantly gone Cancel Red Alert.

ok JJB, that was a really confusing last message for me...but from what I understand...

I did not take a picture of that spot because I didn't even have a camera at the time. But theres nothing on the wall, nothing!!

Ok if that ever happens again, get a camera if it is possible and start taking pictures of the area with the animals looking at the wall, and around them.

As far as the rest of that post, I'll summarize it:

I only feel presenses in man made places, and I get a rush of energy from the shock factor and the feelings dissapate. I never get any bad feelings in nature hiking. Exept one time when I heard what sounded like a bear or yeti yell. So I decided to play Navy Seals trying to be as stealth as possible going the other direction.

Another time but no bad feelings, when I was right next to bushes and knew something was in them. But I didnt get that scared/warning feeling. I left a few minutes later and went back up to the clearing. Then looking back I see 2 big cat creatures where I was just standing(Not talking about bobcat big, like BIG CAT BIG such as panthers, mountain lions, etc). I then made a noise and they ran off with the quickness. (This was by Hearst Castle north of San Luis Obispo Country in California USA) Where a lot of that huge land is used as animal grounds, with even Zebras, so after research it was probably Mountain Lions. Guess I was lucky I was not mauled by them, but like I said, no fear even when I saw them like 15 feet away.

Also,

This one time, at band camp............(Ok the 2 above are very true) (If you dont get the band camp joke go watch American Pie 1 & 2)

I get the band camp joke biggrin.gif

I have a digital camera now so IF anything weird happens again I will snap a few shots off. The thing is, usually when you're all prepared for something to happen, it usually doesn't happen. smile.gif Story of my life....

Anyways, about your woods experience....craziness...but cool, it's a good thing you have that kind of instinct/sense? I probably would of been mauled by the mountain lions and fighting for my life with my last words being, "nice kitties,,,,,,,,"

Aint that the truth. The day I forget to take my camera out on a hiking trip will be the day I run into bigfoot. The night I am too drunk walking home from the casinos I will see the UFO from the inside.......etc......

I have had lots of crazy stuff like the big cats happen in my life. Luckily half the time I have been with a friend, so they know I got some kinda wierd thing about me for that, and they are forced to believe be cuz they were there as well. And they also believe me on the other half when I was alone cuz of the stuff that happened when they were around. (that make sense?)

But when I tell people my 'story' that dont know me, they never believe me. Think I am a loony liar nutcase. Good to have witnesses....But DAMN!!!! I WANNA SEE A GHOST, UFO, BIGFOOT, something on those lines! If its out there, lemme see it(but I always tell the ghosts to get the F out so thats my bad sad.gif )

My mother's cat used to sit and stare into the corner of her game room and hiss n growl. One night, while shooting pool with my mother and wife, someone grabbed my pool stick from that same corner. I turned around to see the wisguy and no one was there. My wife n ma were @ the other end of the room. Sitting on barstools. No one else was in the house.
