Thanato Posted June 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2013 Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office is urging the RCMP in High River, Alta., to focus on "more important" tasks and to return the guns officers took from homes while searching for victims in the evacuated flood zone. Harper's office issued a statement Friday morning in quick reaction to the news that the RCMP had taken some firearms that they said weren't stored properly in empty homes. "If any firearms were taken, we expect they will be returned to their owners as soon as possible," the statement said. "We believe the RCMP should focus on more important tasks such as protecting lives and private property." http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2013/06/28/pol-pmo-guns-alberta.html I agree that they should of been taken due to that looters could of taken them. But they are the property of the home owners and where probably legally stored but just not in a locked safe. ~Thanato
Bavarian Raven Posted June 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Well for non restricted firearms you only need a trigger lock in then legally, so, they didn't need to be locked up. That being said they should be returned ASAP.

Bavarian Raven Posted June 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Raven have you read many of the comments on the CBC about people who are just in general afraid of firearms. Sadly, I have... it reminds me of a quotation from the novel "Wizard's First Rule" "People are stupid - they will believe anything they want to believe or fear to be true." Aptly sums up peoples fear over firearms - unfounded.
Clarakore Posted June 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Basing views on fictional works of literature and cinema aptly sums up people's fear over government. Conspiracy theories are fictional themselves so not surprising. Edited June 29, 2013 by The world needs you
