Chinese river runs green

Still Waters

Recommended Posts

This has to be the greenest river in the world... but not the kind of green that would make environmentalists in other cities quiver with envy.

The Jingang River in Fuzhou, capital of southeast China's Fujian Province, has become completely choked by a tide of water hyacinth.

The river now looks more like an emerald carpet than an urban waterway, snaking its way through the city for more than 400 metres.
