Amazon CEO says discovery is Apollo 11 rocket engines

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos rescued sunken treasure in the Atlantic this year: components of two F-1 rocket engines. Now he says he has verified that they are engines from Apollo 11, the first mission that took U.S. astronauts to the moon.

i dunno MS, i'm not sure how salvage rights work, or if after 40yrs 'finders keepers' would come into play?

Yes, but this salvage was done with NASA's permission and cooperation. The project is not being done for commercial gain and the engines will be displayed in museums.

Just a note. 24 July 1969 Apollo 11 splashed down into the Pacific.

What an awesome experience for Collins, Aldrin and Armstrong.

What an awesome experience for the world.

What's happened?

40 years later, 2 shuttle disasters, Concorde scrapped.

If you want to know if we have the right stuff watch the ISS go overhead and remember it contains a crew of six from all around the world.

Now ask if we are electing politicians with the right stuff and you might get a totally different answer.

Great find, glad to see some of the slowly dwindling backwards slide of our space exploration is now recovered and preserved!
