I think they are telepathic.

Telepathic pets

Cats who know exactly when they are going to be taken to the vets. Dogs who sense their owners' whereabouts - even if they are miles away. I have a Great Dane and she is definitely self-aware. She knows how big she is, and exactly how much of her weight she can use to lean on you without knocking you over.
