Still Waters Posted August 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2013 A man captured footage of a weather phenomenon known as a "hay devil" while in the countryside near his home. Kevin Farndell was walking through some fields near Dummer, Hampshire, when he saw "straw quite high in the sky". He added: "As I rounded the corner I could see this vortex of hay whizzing around." Hay devils, sometimes referred to as dust devils, occur when the ground is hot and the rising warm air lifts up light debris. http://www.bbc.co.uk...pshire-23895960

brlesq1 Posted August 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2013 I once read a horror story about dust devils. Never looked at them the same way again.
DecoNoir Posted August 30, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2013 Really interesting, not a lot of hay fields where I live, mostly dirt. Wonder when someone will claim its the work of aliens.
