Locals and tourists claim to see him before and during storms, protecting a certain property in Pawleys Island proper. Early in September of 1822, a young man was on horseback along the sandy road that led to Pawleys Island with his man-servant riding behind him. They were going to see the young man’s fiancée at her father’s beach house, who had made preparations for his return.
