Reincarnation and Resurrection

Things that I ponder...

The basic definition of 'reincarnation' is...

"To bring back to life" or "To bring back into use".

The basic definition of 'resurrection' is the...

"Rebirth of the soul into another body" or the "Revitalization into another form, a new embodiment".

Its very important to note that in the bible when Jesus returns, nobody knows who he is or even recognizes him any further as the man nailed to a cross.

Neither does he return in any hint of glory otherwise this glory would have been noticed by the apostles...and anyone else who seen of it more than likely.

This is what I find very interesting.

Jesus returns, and is in another body! A different form.

Not just this, but appears no different than anyone else alive at that time.

Save for the incident involving the doubt of Thomas and the subsequent return of Jesus to the heavens, this man called Jesus appears to have been reincarnated and resurrected in the same instance.

This seemingly cannot be denied.

What say you on this matter?

The common belief is that Jesus was resurrected, but not reincarnated. His appearance not being recognized was his own supernatural influence rather than having an altogether different body.

For the record:

Resurrection: Return to life in the same body.

Reincarnation: Return to life in a different body but same person with memories.

Rebirth: Return to life in newborn child, new person, few if any remaining memories.

And IMHO, I find no room for either of the three concepts on a literal basis. According to Job 10:21 and II Sam.12:23 there is no room in Judaism for resurrection but only in a metaphorical manner as we have in Ezekiel 37:12 when the Jewish People metaphorically buried in the graves of the nations hear the call about the end of the exile and return to the Land of Israel. Reincarnation when resolution is taken to get involved as in the Ezekiel vision of the bones getting together to return with new life. And last but not least Rebirth which is akin to a spiritual renewal to return to the land of the living aka Israel. That's what Isaiah said in 53:8,9. When the Jews are cut off from the Land of the Living and taken into exile, graves are assigned to them among the Gentiles.

And for the "horrid stuff" if your idea of God is not too anthropomorphic you can easily find out that God have nothing to do with them.
