Leonardo Posted October 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) New Gallup Poll reveals that a 3rd Major Party is needed. That's not a solution, it will just add to the problem. The solution the US needs is the same the UK needs; the dismantling of the Party Political system and the instatement of a system allowing only candidates who run as individuals representing their constituents (Independents), not a political Party or organisation. There are alternatives to that, and the best alternative would be proportional representation, if need be with a 1 or 2% minimum return required for seats in parliament. As long as there is a "winner takes it all" system there can be a third arty as an accident, but mostly it will be two parties. questionmark Posted October 11, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) in related news: The Republicans’ worst poll yet The latest NBC/WSJ poll is just a disaster for the GOP. The highlights: - By a 22-point margin, the public thinks the Republican Party is more to blame for the shutdown than President Obama. NBC's Mark Murray notes that that's "a wider margin of blame for the GOP than the party received during the poll during the last shutdown in 1995-96." - Like Gallup, this poll shows the Republican Party at record levels of unpopularity. Only 24 percent have a favorable opinion of the GOP, and only 21 percent have a favorable opinion of the Tea Party. Both are "all-time lows in the history of the poll." - The Democratic party, by contrast, has a 39 percent favorability rating. That's pretty much unchanged from recent months, and is in fact the precise same favorability number Democrats posted in May. {snip} - Despite the awful launch, Obamacare is becoming more popular. Last month, 31 percent said it was a good idea and 44 percent said it was a bad idea. This month, 38 percent think it's a good idea Read more So much for the Tea Party as the coming power. CyberKen Posted October 11, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted October 11, 2013 in related news: So much for the Tea Party as the coming power. The Tea Party already IS the coming power. Evidence: November 2010 Election - Nancy Pelosi was thrown out of her office. Then Speaker John Boehner moved in. Remember ??? Are you a chronic amnesiac ? Tea Party Senator Ted Cruz chose to fight to Defund / Delay ObamaCare. He will succeed in doing just that. Senator McCain said "It's a fools errand to Defund / Delay ObamaCare." He was wrong. There will be an 11th Hour Compromise. Part of that compromise will be a 1 Year Drop Kick of ObamaCare. The other blanks will be filled in by Speaker John Boehner "Talks will continue throughout the night."

Gunn Posted October 11, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) No one likes far right or far left political extremist. Even if they are in agreement with some of the public on a few political issues. History has shown us to be wary of such people. Look back about 70 years in Germany. A lot of germans admitted they made a mistake during and after WW2, even though they agreed with Hitler on some political issues. Some of them even tried to have him assassinated later on, during the war. Anyway, I don't think these three clowns are going to be around for very long. Edit: Well, Cruz might get elected as senator again, but the other two...we'll see. Edited October 11, 2013 by Purifier

More likely Government funded for 3 months, in those 3 months there will be negotiations for a budget with 10% reduction across the board. Obamacare will get a public option (as the Republicans will not risk delaying or stopping it again but know it needs to be fixed). There will be a new tax structure, so no taxes will be repealed. 26% popularity does a lot in a parties ability to compromise.

questionmark Posted October 11, 2013 #25 Share Posted October 11, 2013 if 60 percent supposedly wants this then maybe they should vote for a third party... The libertarian and the green party are the biggest ones That will depend on what happens within the next 2 years. One mayor ecological scandal and it will be the Greens. If not the Constitutionalists have the best cards. Spinoffs of the Republicans are less likely to get anywhere due to guilt by association. They will just split the votes from the Reps and benefit the Dems.
