Still Waters Posted October 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2013 The invention of the microwave revolutionised cooking but now a 'reverse-microwave' does the opposite, it can chill a drink in 45 seconds. Up until now there has not been a gadget available to cool items without a long wait. http://www.telegraph...45-seconds.html
+DieChecker Posted October 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Very cool. Get it? COOL?? Glad this does not actually use microwaves, just good old fashioned mechanical processes in water to cool the drinks.
Mikko-kun Posted October 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Yeah, just have to wonder how this instant-freeze will affect the quality of foods. Very handy for fridging your meals tho. Cool story bro.
seeder Posted October 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2013 Well its better than this vid, which freezes a beer to ice in seconds
Four Winds Posted October 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Just spin your drinks in ice water, they cool super fast. Works best with long neck bottles so you don't have to stick your hand in the ice water Edited October 27, 2013 by Razer

Hawken Posted October 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 28, 2013 I bet it will be very expensive when it comes out on the market like microwave ovens were. It will take years before the price comes down. However, great invention. It would be ideal for beverages bought off the shelf and want a quick cold drink. Chooky88 Posted October 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2013 Yes when microwaves came out every deli and service station sold super soft pies and pasties. "I'll just microwave you one." gross. Can't see a downside with this. To quote Philip J Fry. "Shut up and take my money!"
Taun Posted October 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) We were able to do this in science class years ago ... All it took was a bucket of liquid nitrogen, a pair of tongs and some REALLY thick gloves... Edited October 28, 2013 by Taun
