Shiloh17 Posted November 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj8BBi_E_qw This female disappeared at then beginning of our plant shutdown one July, and has never been seen since. Marysville, Ohio. A co-worker says the drive from the plant, to where the suspect used to live takes about 50 minutes. His drive home that night was 2 and 1/2 hours. A lot of circumstancial evidence, but as you will see, the Police detectives are waiting it out, and doing things right.
Vincennes Posted November 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Realm: This is a tragic case !! The perpetrator is pretty obvious. As I'm sure you know, it has been more than down played in the communities. What do you want Unexplained participants to do ? I hope and pray for your family that Union County Sherriff's Dept. is in charge and that they are better than Marion County. Because if this rests with Marion County, it will never be solved. You can call them to report something....fine....but please don't tell them who did it or where they are.... That's more spelling...... It's hard..... It has been asked what good does it do you to all run around with you lights and your sirens when you aren't going to do anything when you get there ??? I fear this is the most primary example of that failure. I'm sorry but this is the worst of the worst elected officials and a prime example of what can happen to the American dream of government and an incompetent LE agency. I am sorry for your family. Shiloh17 Posted November 3, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted November 3, 2013 They are waiting for the technology to come along so they can test that tiny blood speck. They only had enough blood to try and get one DNA analysis. If they messed it up, there wasn't another chance. They are saying the technology is almost here too. With all the circumstancial evidence, that blood analysis will be the most critical factor in a trial, if it turns out to be her DNA.

With all the circumstancial evidence, that blood analysis will be the most critical factor in a trial, if it turns out to be her DNA. The technology is here. It's called touch DNA and it's been available for about 6 years. I'd convict the guy without the DNA results because in my mind, the evidence against him is overwhelming.
Vincennes Posted November 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 3, 2013 I'm going to give it a bet that there was a lot more evidence that wasn't identified. I remember when Patti first went missing and, of course, as usual she was trashed in the press. When they couldn't really come up with much in her background to continue that, it was dropped as far as the news. They had this suspect from the very beginning. There is no excuse for this.
Regi Posted November 3, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) They had this suspect from the very beginning. That was another thing that took me by surprise- that it was 2 weeks (2 weeks!) before authorities spoke to that guy. Authorities need to take that dog to any area known to be familiar to that guy- and/or was accessible to him- which is in proximity of his buddies house and his home to find where he (most likely) buried the body. I think that's possibly why the dog hit on that area of concrete at his home; the same implements used there might have also been used in the murder. Vincennes Posted November 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) This is a transcript link: http://transcripts.c...3/10/ng.02.html Not only is their the drop of blood, yet to be tested. This guy failed the lie detector, the is the dog hit in his yard and they found cat hair from Patti's cats in his truck bed. His name, by the way is Brian Flowers, who then lived in Canton, Ohio, probably still close by. With the amount of money missing from Patti's account, it's pretty clear Brian's wife was also involved ! They found identifiable gifts from Patti inside his home! This girl was taken for thousands and then disposed of ! Neither this man nor his wife should be out walking the streets ! With the amount of evidence in this case . It doesn't show that they are "waiting for technology." It shows lazy, incompetent LE !! Edited November 3, 2013 by Vincennes
Shiloh17 Posted November 3, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) He claims he really didn't know her, even though they had been seen talking to each other frequently. She confided in her sisters, and her friend, who I saw with her often, details of all that was happening. To me, the most damning piece of evidence was the tonneau cover. She told her sister about hiding under it, and how exciting it would be, days before he even put the cover on. He had just picked it up from the dealer and installed it, that very morning. How would she know to hide under something that wasn't even installed, had he not told her about it? Not to mention her cats hair DNA, and the blood speck that awaits analysis. Shiloh17 Posted November 4, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted November 4, 2013 Here's a very good CNN transcript of her case http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1103/10/ng.02.html
Regi Posted November 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 4, 2013 How would she know to hide under something that wasn't even installed, had he not told her about it? Excellent point. The sister would have had no knowledge about that cover if Patti hadn't told her about it.
Buttiefly Posted January 27, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Hi there, I'm from down under (Australia) i happened to watch discovery channel on foxtel and there was a piece on patti adkin concerning her disappearance, looking over the facts i was thinking maybe the sniffer dog was correct in his findings, maybe the cement has something to do with her disappearance, maybe her scent was on/in the cement? didn't the wife mention that the cement was left over from a construction project, did the police checkout where this "construction project" was located, if as they say her scent was in/on the cement maybe the body of patti was near it at some time or used at another location to cover her up and the left over was used in the back yard and thats why the dog went to the cement. Did the police ever think of that possibility? Or maybe patti was placed in the garage for a short time where the cement was located. Just my opinion. Cheers

Regi Posted January 27, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I don't buy the reason authorities say this case is stalled because I don't believe this case hinges on results of that blood sample, nor that the delay in testing is over concern of using the entire sample.
Vincennes Posted January 27, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I have talked to other locals in the area who are accepting of the fact that it's also because they haven't found the body. Emphasis on accepting here and it looks to me like they have had two gutless wonders for Prosecutors.
Regi Posted January 27, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 27, 2014 The body may never be recovered and even if it were, I think it would be doubtful if there was evidence that linked anyone specific to the murder. I'm currently reading a book in which it's stated that what these cold cases need is "family support, police commitment, political winds blowing your way, investigative brilliance and luck". I think this case needs a DA who's willing to risk losing rather than be more willing to delay until the case might actually be impossible to prosecute. Vincennes Posted January 27, 2014 #19 Share Posted January 27, 2014 It's a large, really modern plant facility and she was seen leaving it. Getting under a tarp in the back of his truck as he had told her to do. The thing is that area is close to Columbus (a rather large city) but it's old farm country. There are numerous abandon farm houses, wells and cisterns in that area. I live relatively close to that area although I'm not from there and I still bet you I could find you a place to dump a body in less than an hour. They well know Patty had given that guy over $30,000 and multiple gifts before she went missing. They found some of her gifts in the home he was sharing and still shares as far as I know with his wife. The community is mainly I'm afraid a little backward, a farm community. No one is challenging these Prosecutors to go forward. Isn't that sad.

Its just another sad case and the family knows who may have well kill her, their only hope is of finding her body. Regi Posted January 28, 2014 #21 Share Posted January 28, 2014 This crime was premeditated and planned well in advance. There's no telling the body is. I think one thing's for sure...that guy didn't go anywhere he thought he risked being seen somewhere he had no business because he wasn't even willing to pick her up from her home. There's no doubt in my mind that Patti was under that tarp; the timely purchase/limited use of it, the sister's knowledge that it even existed and how it would be used... and the cat hair is compelling evidence. I certainly don't need a witness to tell me that Patti was under that tarp.
Shiloh17 Posted January 29, 2014 Author #22 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Plant shutdown ,could he have taken her body back to the plant and depose of it some where there? That way to him if any remains of her body was found there, it would appear she never left the plant.Do employees have access? Was the plant search ? Are there incinerators ? I thought of that. They said that they did do a quick search a few weeks after she went missing by the Police, inside and outside the plant and general area. But the real kicker is this: They were tearing up the floor and pouring lots and lots of concrete before and during shutdown. They added a new line which was complete when shutdown was over. I bet the Police were never told that. They just come in do a general search and gone, just that quick. I'd always thought that maybe she was lured back to the plant, buried under dirt, then later under tons of concrete. They have those concrete penetrating radar things to search for bodies.

Realm, what can we do about this ? There should be something to bring more attention to this. When I talked to a couple of people from the area, I was just so frustrated at the shoulder shake, "well they can't find the body, so what can they do ?"
W H I T E Posted June 21, 2016 #24 Share Posted June 21, 2016 I saw a show on this case, and must admit there is something especially insulting to me about the way it was carried out. The suspect is a guy who needs a harsh check on reality and it would be a pleasure to give it to him, personally. The guy and his wife continue to live their lives in Ohio, and are probably feeling rather safe at this point. Certainly at this stage, I don't believe the sample has ever existed. It is now approximately 15 years later and the technology "right around the corner" has come and gone. The claim of a sample was nothing but a fake bargaining chip. As for the rest, I'd have to agree with those who think the production line may be the spot. It would make sense that, by the time she was seen as a potential missing-person, the concrete would have long set and the line built. The thought it wasn't investigated, is just too outrageous. It becomes doubly unacceptable to think he may have used some of her money to pay a friend for assistance in hiding her body, as well. Just terrible.
