Still Waters Posted November 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Scientists have managed to reconstruct the genome of giant animals which roamed the world more than 780,000 years ago, using a new technique which could boost our understanding of ancient man. Through DNA analysis researchers were able to create the genome - which contains a mammal's hereditary information - of a huge cave bear and a large horse that had been dead for hundreds of thousands of years. http://www.telegraph...scientists.html

George Ford Posted November 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks for sharing the link, you might be interested in this too, I was surprised I'd never heard of an Irish Elk before. The 1st time I saw a skeleton of one in a museum was a shock, it looked pretty intimidating. The thing must have been awesome to see alive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_elk

Chooky88 Posted November 19, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 19, 2013 The novel Jurassic Park was all about the parks popularity driving advertising for the real money spinner of getting pet dinosaurs to market, infertile and only able to eat special 'Dino food.' If there's a dollar in it they will get it done. Imagine the warning sign on the gate. "Beware the Cave Bear!"
