looking at the situation on our planet, i believe that there is much left for desire when it comes to being counted as "advanced civilisation". Humans kill each other off constantly, for abstract stuff like differing political or religous belief systems. That may be one reason why we're still stuck on this planet and are not a space-travelling race ourselves. Any civilisation that would be able to cross galaxies should have left that kind of behaviour behind themselves in order to do so.

(I know that this is my opinion and only speculation, but so is the whole topic.)

that theory you mentioned says they're here to guide us, eh? that's another thing than knocking on our front porch and saying "do as we say".

I guide my daughter as well, but i'm not gonna force any of my beliefs upon her.

This could possibly be very true. The other thing that is mentioned time and time again by abductees is that they are "shown" apocalyptic images of earth, so I take this to be a warning, as in, if you do not get your **** together then......

It's well known in abduction cases that victims have been exposed to such images.

You are removed from your home and find yourself lying naked on some kind of examining table. You are totally immobilized and cannot move or defend yourself. You are surrounded by gray, bug-eyed creatures that are performing a very painful pseudo-medical examination on you, which includes biological sample taking. They don't seem to give a damn about your pain and suffering. Next, through telepathy or some other method, they pump apocalyptic images of mass death and destruction into you head which cause you much grief. Then it's on to the messages, again telepathically, you hear such nonsense as, "You are special, you are the chosen one, you are a great leader and teacher of people." Then as quickly as it began, it ends, you find you're back home. Chances are you won't remember much, if anything.
