Nigella Lawson 'will not face investigation'

18 posts in this topic

TV cook Nigella Lawson will not face an investigation over claims she took cocaine, police have said.

Scotland Yard said it would not look into the allegations at this stage but would review the decision if new evidence came to light.

Giving evidence at the trial of two former personal assistants, Ms Lawson said she had previously taken the drug.

Sisters Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo were cleared of defrauding Ms Lawson and her former husband Charles Saatchi.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Allegations that one of the (alleged) victims was involved in taking Class A drugs have been made during the course of this trial.

"At this stage the Metropolitan Police will not be investigating these allegations. Should any evidence, and that includes material from the trial, that could be investigated come to light this decision will be reviewed."

Well, as I remarked just a little earlier, Police say they have no plans to investigate Nigella Lawson for drug use, since there isn't sufficient evidence to make a case. This is despite the fact that she herself has admitted using it. Meanwhile, any member of the proletariat who might happen to possess a few ounces of pot for their own personal use is Cracked Down On severely by the police, who take a zero tolerance approach to drug possession. Is it just me, or does there seem to be an inconsistency here?

Clearly it really helps if the Prime moron Minister is on "Team Nigella". And as the Colonel says, the rest of us would probably been arrested as we left the courthouse yesterday for possesion of class A drugs, and maybe even suspicion of child abuse after admitting using illegal substances in their presence.

The one UK newspaper I read on a regular basis is the Telegraph, a publication that likes to present itself as being "moral" blah blah blah. Yet they have in today's edition made this self confessed posseser and user of unlawful drugs, to seem like a wronged saint. Stinking immoral hypocrites.

Our Lords and Masters have to set us examples up to which we may gaze in worship, wondering if we - the ignorant and blighted masses - can ever hope to be as worthy and good as they. Nigella Lawson was/is one such example - touted and feted as a "domestic goddess" until she became impervious to criticism.

We make our Lords and Masters jobs much easier by blinkering ourselves to the fact these "heroes and heroines" are simply human beings like the rest of us.

the fact that her dad was Chancellor of the Exchequer under Mrs. T*'s government is, of course, completely unrelated and has nothing to do with it in any way ... :innocent:

Saatchi pulled the corker. He was filmed half throttling Nigella in a restaurant and has managed to air her dirty laundry in a ridiculous fraud case he has lost. He is free from libel cases and I don't believe for a second he would would have allowed his personal assistants, fellow Italians take the rap. We are meant to believe he got suspicious about credit card statements days after he was filmed assaulting his wife, over a mediocre cab fare.

What a rat.

Saatchi seems to have got his own way. The latest news is Nigella Lawson IS now going to be investigated over the drugs just a few days after they said she wouldn't be.

Money talks again.

If she had got away with admitting using a Class A Substance on the grounds of being driven to it by the ill treatment she was suffering at the hands of her husband, how many other ordinary people, i.e. not celebrities or Domestic Goddesses, would have got away with a similar excuse, I wonder?

... while, as I keep saying, anyone who wasn't famous and who grew a bit of pot for their own use, let alone taking Class A Drugs, would undoubtedly have the full weight of the Fuzz thrown at them. Either the whole business of "the war on drugs" is a waste of time in its entirety (at least for personal use), or some consistency is applied and someone who admits to using Class A drugs has the full majesty of the Law thrown at them even if they are a much-loved National figure, the same as anyone else.

Last time I checked taking drugs wasn't illegal, being in pocession of them is....she hasn't been caught with anything, so no case to answer. It also isn't true to say that anyone who isn't famous would have the full weight of the law thrown at them....plenty of people do not, infact I know an elderly gentlemen who was caught growing a green house full of weed...he was raided, his plants taken, and then 5-6 weeks later his plants were returned to him as the quality was poor.....bizarre but true.
