Gromdor Posted January 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2014 Conservast-ISM Fess? The whole point of the video was that all the ism's were divisive and leading to loss of freedom. Hence the politician, farmer, capitalist, and union laborer all wanting their own isms but it turning out to be the same result in the end.

Yamato Posted January 3, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2014 This pretty much says it all...can we wake up from the ISM? The policy, so carefully crafted by our prescient federal powers from above, are far too important to protect the freedom of the people. Freedom is being destroyed so the policies can endure.

ISM's are abound but unless I didn't pay enough attention I believe the video was all about hard work and self preservation and was a warning about being too reliant or dependent on those ism's, hence a conservative message. Yamato Posted January 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2014 Even so, ISMs aren't inherently negative and hard work is hardly free from the critique; hard work might be promoted as a virtue under schools of thought such as corporatism, capitalism, socialism, individualism, collectivism, protestantism, conservatism or libertarianism to name a few. Sir Wearer of Hats Posted January 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I love how the cartoon says the US sends more people to college then the rest of the world combined. Times have changed, or maybe the focus has changed, you now spend more on the military then the rest of the world.

Yamato Posted January 3, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I love how the cartoon says the US sends more people to college then the rest of the world combined. Times have changed, or maybe the focus has changed, you now spend more on the military then the rest of the world. Education, military, now health care. All have suffered the same plague of Gigantism through the years in America. Someday military will go the way of education and we won't spend more than the world on that either. But Americans are entitled to their four year liberal arts degree and some still think it matters to their earnings potential as if it's somehow relevant to today's workforce beyond just proving you're intelligent enough to pass a test and responsible enough to take it. Having a good work ethic and speaking two languages makes one far more employable in today's market than a certificate guaranteeing a certain level of intelligence without any professional skills whatever. +joc Posted January 3, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I think, that the ISM was a shortening of the word Commusnism...because it was, and is, Communism that was...and is...offering womb to the tomb care of its citizens. When that cartoon was made, our schools taught history...our people were hard working, and well educated. And our standard of living was a jewel in the eyes of most of the world. Today...we are lazy, on food stamps, welfare, extended unemployment benefits, and Social Security and the NEA has dumbed down the population to the point that we are no where even near the top when it comes to Education. That's why I say the Sleeping Giant is in a Coma. And while we are comatose...the Bear is rising.

You mean Black vs White, Gay vs Straight, Rich vs Poor, The Super Rich vs The Middle Class, Corporations vs The People, Democrats vs Republicans, Fat vs Thin, Beautiful vs Ugly? Is that what you are talking about? All of these things are given to us on a Silver Platter of Divisionism by the Left. All others can be abolished if they don't work. Fanaticism is a state of mind.
Gunn Posted January 3, 2014 #18 Share Posted January 3, 2014 Personally I think capitialism is great...when it's a well regulated system. But when it's not and it becomes a free - for - all, it turns into this: Just like Communism that can be manipulated to serve those at the top and keep other people downtrodden, so can another, hence Crony Capitialism. None of the systems are perfect when they are being manipulated to serve the elite, all the way through to the top. And we've seen that a lot in this country (U.S.), over the years.

Oh I don't know, Joc. Seems to me we were there long ago. I think the highlight of it was when Bush Jr. got into office and it's been that way every since. Remember the Enron Scandal and Bush's connection with it; http://www.truthdig....idget&id=471736 ..and who could forget the crony banks over the years, who've pulled all kinds of crooked crap on people. Like Bank of (un)America: http://www.rollingst...o-fail-20120314 There are others of course, like J.P. Morgan. Washington Mutual, Chase, and Bear Stearns to name a few http://www.npr.org/t...oryId=130421557 And hey, what about Bernard Madoff? Remember that guy? (lol, he damn near did (madeoff) didn't he?) http://en.wikipedia..../Bernard_Madoff I'm sure there is more of them just like him, but they just haven't been caught yet. I could go on, but I think that's enough. No, Joc...I'm afraid Crony Capitalism has beaten Communism to the punch. Because our beloved Capitalism was not regulated enough. And it's now the under regulated ruling system here in the U.S. I still have faith in the Capital system, when it's properly regulated, I just don't have faith in the capitalist. Edit: typos Not to mention that capitalism was quite regulated, not because of Communism or Socialism but because of the Robber Barons, whose descendants managed to buy enough political influence to get the regulation abolished again and have been on the biggest heist of government (or our all) property in history ever since.

Surely not, Questionmark...say it ain't so - say it ain't so!
