At first I thought, you've got to be kidding? I have an electric that times me. But if it tells you where you miss, I tend to zone out when I'm brushing for 2 minutes, that's a good thing, imo.

I can also see its helpfulness for young kids and even special needs adults. Who may tend to brush in only one spot.
