young people in japan not wanting sex!

31 posts in this topic

So basically japan is just loosing all interest in sex. I didn't know this was possible. They are having population fears now because people are just not having sex or dating. I think its because of their obsession with video games....

http://www.theguardi...pped-having-sex

A survey earlier this year by the Japan Family Planning Association (JFPA) found that 45% of women aged 16-24 "were not interested in or despised sexual contact". More than a quarter of men felt the same way.

Another study found that a third of people under 30 had never dated at all

the number of single people has reached a record high. A survey in 2011 found that 61% of unmarried men and 49% of women aged 18-34 were not in any kind of romantic relationship, a rise of almost 10% from five years earlier

Simple really - children rebel.

If the parents are accountants the kids rebel and become artists.

If the parents are radical Christians, the kids rebel and become Buddhists.

If the parents are pushing for children above all other concerns, then ...

Plenty folks not in a relationship? I can believe that. Young folks 'not interested' in sex. LOL

I can remember a survey done in my High School back in the olden days that showed that only 5% of all pupils had tried alcohol and only 7% had tried smoking. I LOL'd at that too. (the exit polls showed it was 75% for both)

Yeah but you can use protection to have sex without kids. so even if parents push for kids then it shouldn't have an effect on wanting sex

Hmm, whatever the Japanese Equivalent of Hollywood is needs to start cranking out romantic comedies that are absurdly optimistic and unrealistic.

why is this such a major concern??

so what if they don't want to have sex. the world could use a bit of population control anyway

seeing all the teens and very young women getting pregnant in this country i kind of wish it would carry over.

Hopefully this means love is dying.

Maybe the kids in Japan just know love is a lie..

and are smart enough to know it.

They are much more intelligent than the US kids.

Maybe young uns have forgotten how to talk to one other, face to face. Forgotten that romance should come before sex and forgotten the thrill of 'the chase'. Or maybe they've never known. :(

what i like is that no one has used this topic to make any tired, slightly bigoted "jokes" about japanese people and sexuality.

oh wait, no. what i actually like is sarcasm.

True, unfortunately. Additionally, there is still that lingering misogynism in the Japanese psyche. In one of the conversations I have had with the office ladies, more than once is brought up the point that a woman who expects to get anywhere in her career has no options to do both this and have a child, as daycare is expensive and few businesses have facilities for children or procedures in place to protect the jobs of pregnant mothers. A woman with a child being tended by the father at home would be seen as a woman with a failure of a husband (because, obviously, being a househusband is a mark of shame, unlike being a housewife). And since she isn't around the home to prod her husband into bettering himself (and if the child is at daycare too often, she isn't at home to nurture her child), then she is marked down yet again (somehow, it always seems to circle around back to the woman.

Well, since the population of Japan is, I make it, near enough 127 000 000, I don't think anyone need worry too much just yet. Anyway, a gradual and voluntary reduction in population of the most heavily populated countries is surely a laudable thing; it might save the NWO having to implement their population reduction plans just yet, at least.

You must be an absolute joy at parties.

Well lets get out there and show 'em how its done! With our combination of youth and experience, we'll have them face to face and loving it.... or fail miserably because none of us can speak Japanese.... I really should have thought this out.

I personally know a lot of guys who would volunteer to teach Japanese women how to love.

Many Japanese citizens work an insane number of hours every week. Might explain why some never pursue relationships.

What's sad about this is people thinking this is wrong. Sex in our culture is much to trivial and has been devalued. These young people are having a natural reaction to a societies unatural treatment of sex as a recreational sport and status symbol.

Yes and no. Sex is definitely associated with letting off steam for salarymen, usually in soaplands, massage parlors, and various other less than reputable establishments. However, sex isn't considered a status symbol in Japan. A guy who has sex with a lot of women is thought of pretty much the same way a woman who has sex with a bunch of guys is thought of (imagine that). Teen idols lose their fame rapidly once word gets out that they had sex or posed for pornography.

This is I think largely the rule in most of Asia. A man of means may be allowed a mistress in addition to his wife, but this is considered less than noble, and to change mistresses would be unheard of. It's not that prostitution doesn't exist, but it is sure as hell kept secret.

If sex was devalued so badly, no one would want it.

I saw all this on a documentary recently.

Japanese boys and men really do love their virtual girlfriends, and they are faithful to them!

Do you know the name of that documentary by chance? I want to see it :P.

But yeah that was my theory, their video game obsession in that country is insane, so I really feel like that it has an effect.

It was called 'No Sex Please, We're Japanese' and shown on BBC2 in the UK.
