lorelle17 Posted February 12, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted February 12, 2014 Toast it is a ghetto hotel... i will see if. Can find the police reports... that seems like a perfect route to find documentation on energy in a historic building. I didnt say it was "haunted" lol. I dont ever say things of that nature due to the fact i have a better understanding then to use the word "ghosts" and "hauntings" thank you for the generic info you found on wikipedia. stevemagegod Posted February 12, 2014 #28 Share Posted February 12, 2014 Hmm Interesting Photo. I am getting some interesting vibes off it. I see a unique texture in the light play and i see blood stains on the carpet? I also saw a brief face in the picture but then it disappeared. It was kinda creepy. I have never tried to read energy from a picture but this is my first time trying.
lorelle17 Posted February 12, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted February 12, 2014 The cancer patients were held there aganst their wil for further "treatmen" many died long and drawn oht deaths due to him trying to get money from them and the state. They were not tied down and shackled... the ones that caused problems were put in the basement. The families stop visiting at a certain point... they died horrible deaths because a man with no education to claim to be a doctor.
rashore Posted February 12, 2014 #30 Share Posted February 12, 2014 For folks interested in some info.. Here's the lovely hotel site on Mr. Baker: http://www.crescent-hotel.com/bakerstory.shtml There's other bits and pieces scattered around, but a lot of the meat of it is included in the site above. Place has a lot of history outside the couple Baker years, pretty interesting overall.
lorelle17 Posted February 12, 2014 Author #31 Share Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) Having learned of an alleged cancer cure by Dr. Charles Ozias of Kansas City, and asserting its efficacy despite the expeditious deaths of all five of his test subjects, Baker brought the convicted medical swindler Harry Hoxsey to Muscatine and with him began promoting his own "cure." By April 1930, Norman Baker was operating the Baker Institute in Muscatine, and advertising the clinic on the air. The (very expensive) cure for cancer, and other diseases as requested, consisted of injections of a mix of common substances including corn silk, watermelon seeds, clover, water and carbolic acid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_G._Baker Edited February 12, 2014 by Still Waters Reduced amount of copied text and added source link
Sakari Posted February 12, 2014 #32 Share Posted February 12, 2014 Your source ? And, nothing there to what I said. He was never charged for holding people against their will. He was charged for other things, un-licensed radio broadcasting, and these : As Arkansas was unable to close down the Baker Hospital (which had revitalized Eureka Springs's economy), the federal government brought charges against Norman Baker with seven counts of mail fraud. The case, opened in September 1939, was complicated by the fact that Baker had no formal post in the business, exercising control through proxies. However, despite appeals all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, Baker was sentence to four years of jail and $4,000 restitution. In January 1940, the court found Baker’s cure a "pure hoax" and "utterly false" and jailed him pending appeals. Baker served his sentence at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas, from May 1941 to July 1944. In January that year, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals denied him early release. While Baker and his associate, R.A. Bellows served time at Leavenworth, Bellows sued his fellow inmate for breach of contract, as he said Baker had not paid him the $75,000 of profits to which he was entitled. Bellows (described by the tax court as an "ignorant country barber" until Baker hired him) died shortly thereafter while still incarcerated. There is nothing anywhere of him holding people against their will, and it would be there. As I said, you heard, read, or thought that was the case from a urban legend, and true stories being twisted to make things look more " scary " in that place. That is how horror movies, and boogie man stories go. You try to scare your audience with false representations. ( not you as in " you ", but people )
rashore Posted February 12, 2014 #33 Share Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) To be fair, Mr. Baker got nailed on the mail fraud before some other litigation could come to full fruition. I think some of it might have been confirmed fed precedence over pending and unconfirmed state/county sort of thing going on. I didn't dip too hard into that. Heh, also to be fair, seems like this fella was always on the run from one hoaxish, fraudish, and in general unsavory activity before and after the Crescent years. There could be some rather incriminating stuff if someone really wanted to dig through all the original records and could do so. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of the paperwork included wrongful death or death by snakeoil sort of lawsuit or whatever it would have been called back then. However, nothing I could come up with today pointed to actual criminal restraint or questionable amounts of missing persons, body counts, or any of the other usual. To the contrary, the guy sold his cancer cure rather openly if any of the basic stuff I have read is accurate. He seems to have been a quack that did ill deeds through open conning rather than nefarious sequestering of deeds. And really, He didn't own the place till mid 1937, and was off by the close of 1940. Considering some of the trouble he seemed to be in all of his life, if he had been holding folks and disposing- on property none the less- even LEO back then would have been pouncing on any complaint. If he could have been trumped locally with a large scale death and torture action, it would have trumped the mail charges that had already been in full process. Take my research skills for what they are on this without me linking a bajillion tidbits, or do your own. It was a lot of dinking around all over. This is my paraphrasing. Also interesting... For all that the focus is supposed to be all the evil of those twoish years, quite a lot of the haunting reported does not really seem to be tormented patients/vitcims of the era. A stonemason that fell to his death haunting a room. Tales of catching ballroom action and happy partying of that sort in some of the common areas, a guy lounging by some stairs, phone calls coming from where they shouldn't, random usual stuff like doors moving, vibes, shadowy stuff.. And of course Mr. Baker is said to making appearances as well as a nurse/gal in white that might be a patient or not in one of the guest rooms. You can also take my research for it with that too. Again, a lot of bits, quite of it replicated over and in rather few variations. Edited February 13, 2014 by rashore

When someone states something as fact ( and I see it ), if I know it is not fact, or 99% sure it is not, I will point it out. I am only talking this : The cancer patients were held there aganst their wil for further "treatmen" Only reason why, I have said. Ghost Stories and Haunted places need to be " dramatized " to make them more " believable ". This is a good example of this. Not saying it was the OP making this up, but who knows. The OP posted it, and may have heard it somewhere, or added it in after reading a lot about the place.

I dont wish to argue about every post. Lorelle. Please do not take my replies as arguing. I have no issues with people believing things, as long as they are not stated as fact. I am just a little straight forward and do not sugar coat my replies. When I saw you stated that people were held there against their will, I just asked for proof of that. ( I have gone over this topic before and new ) Now, if that statement is just a " belief " so be it, but it is not fact. Sorry if you took this as arguing, I assure you I am not. I just like to discuss these things, and yes, I discuss them from the " skeptic " side of the fence. By the way, welcome to UM And I mean that sincerely. lorelle17 Posted February 13, 2014 Author #38 Share Posted February 13, 2014 As far as being held against their will here is where it stems from. They wanted to quit treatment... they were not aloud to leave.. to me that is held against your will. This was the second hospital he opened. First one ended in law suits and horribke deaths.... as did this one. As far as spirit world is concerned i will state that as fact. Not because i have this amazing gift that is wonderful and that i asked for. I have a gift that scared me to death... made me not sleep or be able to be in the dark. A gift that so many strive to have as though it is all wonderful experiences and brings you closer with "god" . So i have learned many things and i am very knowledgable about spirituality (from a physics point of view as well as my faith). Its something that forced me to reconsider my beliefs and also learn things beyond anything i ever imagined. Its made me a better person but it was a struggle. I underatand where u are coming from due to people trying to open up spiritually and not having the underatanding. Im just trying to help people underatand and make them think. This universe is so complex that a lot of it is beyond undertanding. I can say what we are able to grasp is amazing... but its not a cake walk. I look forward to more posts amd topic conversations with you

I look forward to more posts amd topic conversations with you Thanks for understanding, and not getting upset. Nice to be able to have conversations on both perspectives without people getting all upset. That is how they should be, it is very rare here. Now, I have to ask after reading your first sentence.I can not find anything ( credible ) stating people wanted to leave and were not allowed to leave. ( held against their will ). I take it you heard this, and believe it to be true, correct? Edited February 13, 2014 by Sakari
lorelle17 Posted February 13, 2014 Author #40 Share Posted February 13, 2014 They were subject to insane medical treatments and watched other die around them. When they tried to leave they were held due to the fact "they were under treatment". Keep in mind in the 30s for someone to say they had a cure for cancer was a big deal. Families dropped them off and believed. Then when it got bad they left them... due to the b.s doctor assuring them he was curing them. It was a sick thing. They made almost 500,000 is 1930s. Thats a lot of lies. Torture of people by injecting them with chemicals. It didnt last long. Should have never happened

But, no charges filed, and could not be. Same as above, no charges filed on him for anything medical, nor killing anyone, nor holding anyone against their will. Caperdude36 Posted February 28, 2017 #44 Share Posted February 28, 2017 In the first picture, I see a family standing along the side of the hallway. The man is holding his wife and there 3 children (2 boys and 1 girl) are in front of them, to his wife's left side. There wearing clothing that if i'm guessing would be 30's type style? Across from them there is another family standing closer to the camera. I am not sure if they are a family or not., I get the feel that they may be, but they don't seem close or happy. There are 2 small children approx. 2 - 3 years old between them both. The clothing looks very old on them as well. :-S Both families seem to be quite aware of the camera as well. I'm not getting a negative feel from them. This place needs someone to clear it, and a release.
Caperdude36 Posted February 28, 2017 #45 Share Posted February 28, 2017 I don't see anything for the picture below that. The one of the outside of the building. it looks old but i see no spirits lurking in and around. Inside maybe a different story if your walking it. Assetbuilder408 Posted June 30, 2017 #46 Share Posted June 30, 2017 (edited) bypassing all the comments as I am new to this.....but right off the bat I feel a beatiful location with old and new spirits whom some seem p***ed off. Some are like kids throwing a fit yet the are grown.... I have 2 kids maybe twins in the middle of the hallway holding eachother close yet from a time long ago and passed a long time ago. I feel late twenties, more recent (yet like 60 years ago Im talking) light skinned and p***ed off because she was murdered and by someone she respected like a caregiver or doctor maybe?...hold on, a young male too....maybe late teens older death, quiet but nosy and trying to mess with the camara person, he thinks they are quite cute....could be wrong, just a first feeling....is this a well known hotel and know for its past maybe cuz theres a lot of different spirits and all in a place where they should have felt safe but were in fact not.......and many feel they think they are superstars in a way and feel they should be seen....like their stories need to be heard........? Julio Posted October 11, 2017 #47 Share Posted October 11, 2017 Hmm for the second picture, it looks like a nice place... i mean it doesn't look like something with much negativity... the sun is bright, i sort of like the feeling the picture gave me... and it seems to be an old building and people lived there... idk I don't think I have the ability to feel the vibe... that's just the impression the place gave me
