I'm guessing that has something to do with you being located in a "A very small country north of Germany".

Andreas Mogensen's flight will only last 10 days and I suspect that, outside Denmark, it will be greatly over-shadowed by a fellow member of the crew, Sarah Brightman. However I suspect that, as long as her performs well, he will be selected for a long duration station mission in the not too distant future.

I have to say I enjoy his video diaries. He (and the French astronaut Thomas Pesquet) bring humour and personality to their reports.

You are guessing correctly !

I think you are right about the rest of the world, but here in this very small country north of Germany, he will definately be the star of the mission !

And so he should be.

To me every single astronaut is a hero regardless of nationality, race or gender. They are the best of us, showing us what humans are capable of if we put our mind to it.

ESA astronauts training in Japan

ESA astronauts have to train with all International Space Station partners: everybody has seen them training in Star city in Russia or in Houston, in the US but they also have to go to Japan during the preparation of their mission.

ESA astronauts Alexander Gerst and Samantha Cristoforetti were recently in Tsukuba, at the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Centre.

Samantha Cristoforetti from Italy joined ESA's Astronaut Corps in 2009. An experienced fighter pilot and Captain in the Italian Air Force, she's been proposed by the Italian Space Agency ASI to fly to the International Space Station later this year. After extensive international training she'll be launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, becoming the eighth ESA astronaut to participate in a long-duration mission onboard the ISS.
