An unusual temple in Rajasthan, India is home to several thousand rats that roam freely around its halls.

It makes you realise there's actually something worse than slipping on a banana peel.

You probably not only have to fear slipping in rat feces, at night the place is probably crawling with cobras looking for some nice grain-fed rat.

Worshipping rats as gods. I wonder how many people around India go hungry because of granaries spoiled by vermin, or how many get sick from rat bites and rat borne diseases? I'd say the "no history of plague" is a matter of pure luck; give it time.

Incarnation of a diety? Yeah, right.

The rat's left over food is considered sacred? Yuk.

With this many rats and more to be born, I'm sure the likelyhood of a devistating disease seems likely to only grow higher.
