questionmark Posted February 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2014 On Feb. 27, 2009, the tea party held its first protests in more than 30 cities across the United States. Five years later, the grass-roots group is throwing a big bash in D.C. to celebrate its birthday, and we're wondering much of the same things about tea party members that we were prior to the 2010 midterms, when they proved they weren't kidding about getting comfortable in the home Republicans begrudgingly made for them. Can they win primaries in the 2014 midterms? How long can this movement last? Can the Republican Party continue to survive with such a narrow base? Not because I agree with the politics, but because that is where the only real change will have to come from. Grass root efforts that catch on. RavenHawk Posted February 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2014 I think that as the Left becomes more and more blatantly authoritarian and the Republicans become more and more complacent thinking that compromise is possible with Socialism, you’ll see the ranks of the TEA Party and Libertarians grow. The one thing going on is that people are beginning to wake up from the snow job Obama and the Progressives have been spreading. I see us moving into a new era of American politics, the 6th party system. It’ll be divided between the Socialists and the TEA Party/Libertarian. And that will be more reflective of America. The Takers on one side and the Producers on the other. But this is not a stable system. What this is is a transitional system. Taker policies are unsustainable. They don’t have the mindset needed to “mind the store” which is the nation and its well-being. Through this period, the TEA Party and Libertarians need to teach all Americans about American history, the Constitution, and citizenship so that when the time comes for the transition into the 7th party system we will be ready. They got hijacked by criminals and crooks like just about every other movement does that is gaining ground and getting attention... The next rapidly growing political movement will also be infiltrated and taken over just like this one was...those behind the barbed curtain are not going to go quietly into the night...they will sink their claws into anything they feel threatened by or think they can use. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I hate to say it...but I fear you are correct. "Libertarian" has become the new "cool thing to be" and so many people are attaching themselves to it and half of them probably don't even know what it really means. They really don't care about "the philosophy of freedom"...it's just "a thing" to them that has a lot of people's attention and if they can steal the stage and twist it around to their own uses...they will. Some examples... John Stossel. I occasionally watch his show, but he is more of an "Ayn Rand, stab you in the back to get mine first" kinda guy. Sometimes he has good points but most of the time he is just blathering selfishness. The Koch Brothers...does anyone really believe they are for personal freedom?...be serious...the only freedom they are concerned with is their own and if suppressing your freedom puts more billions in the bank...consider yourself shackled and jailed. They do not care about true freedom for everyone...just themselves and their cronies. The difference in them and me? I want everyone to be free. I want everyone to have the opportunity to do whatever it is they do best. I don't really care what that is as long as your freedom does not impose upon, hinder or hamper the freedom of someone else. The Tea Party...in their infancy...kinda implied this was their point of view...now it's a totally different agenda. Even the French viewed the American Revolution as an opportunity to engage in a proxy war with Britain. The Tea Party movement didn't even make it to the revolution stage before people like the Koch brothers noticed their rhetoric was beneficial for them and decided to get involved. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They fought against Reagan, picked horrible Presidential candidates and generally railed against the Tea Party. You would think after the shellacking they have taken the last few years they might want to chance course, but history suggests otherwise.
