Still Waters Posted March 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2014 This is the giant venomous spider which leapt out of an eco worker's backpack when she returned to London from a charity trip to the jungle in Cameroon. Nora Serrat, 32, found a Huntsman spider - known for preying on bats - on her return from a two week work project in the west African country. http://www.standard....le-9193213.html

beelzebufo Posted March 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2014 Cool. I'm impressed they caught it and brought it to a zoo, instead of just killing it like most people would.

Thorvir Posted March 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2014 It would have been confronted with high-powered firearms and fire around here. Lots of fire. Spiders are spawn of evil.

Sundew Posted March 15, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 15, 2014 As far as I know all true spiders are venomous, but not all are dangerously so. We have huntsman spiders where I live, with legs extended they are the size of you palm, but I have never heard of anyone being bitten, much less being harmed. I did look the local species up however and it says they can bite and it can be painful but not dangerous, unless perhaps you are allergic. I will say they are one the fastest spiders I have ever seen and it can be unnerving to see one run across the wall or ceiling!

Dumpnuts Posted March 15, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 15, 2014 Why run? Beat the *beep* out of it with the cane! I have mastered the art of projecting a boot across the room at spiders on the wall. My ex wife was terrified of spiders & I got tired of having to get up & squish them. So I learned how to squish them from a distance. Unfortunately she was afraid to pick up the body. In end I still had to get up & pick up the body. Can't have that just lying around, I like a clean house.
