who do you know anyone thats been possessed?

24 posts in this topic

Hello, all! New to the site...actually I was quite active several years ago but life got in the way and I fell off the globe. So...here's the topic of debate:

HAVE YOU WITNESSED A TRUE DEMONIC POSSESSION? I am of the understanding that the members of this forum are from around the world. I would like to hear, if possible, first hand accounts of this phenomena. Or else I would like to hear your educated opinions of whether possession is possible or not. If you believe the whole demonic possession thing is BS...tell me why. If you've had an encounter personally...lets get into it! Personally, for the life of me, I cannot get over the hurdle of my deep skepticism on this topic! I come from a place of disbelief. But a coworker of mine recently told me a story about a fella he knew in his native country Yemen that was showing all the "signs".

Examples in my friend's tale...

1. The "possessed" fella spoke English and never had before.

2. He asked that a cigarette be placed on the window sill (unlit). The cigarette allegedely ignited and this guy (across the room) blew smoke out of his mouth.

3. The possessed fella loosened the lug nuts of a semi trailer truck with his bare hands and removed said tire and threw it across the yard.

4. The possessed fella was acting out of sorts...particularly nasty and mean, when ,before he had never been.

5. Flies swarmed around him and he smelled like rotting flesh. (this is a new one for me...IDK)

For the record...I had to drag this topic of conversation out of my friend. He wasn't so easy to talk about paranormal stuff. He's from Yemen, he's Muslim, he's kind of shy like that. I was talking about some movie or something in a matter of fact kinda way and he clammed up. So I say... "Why are you acting weird, I'm just talking about a movie and I don't believe in that stuff anyways" And then he tells me his story... Mind you, this incident occurred many years ago and a follow up questionnaire is not in the works with my friend. But if you have the appropriate questions or concerns about my story I will answer as best I can. Mostly I'd like to hear others experiences.

I have not and I'm fairly certain that I never will given that there has never been any serious evidence to support that demons, gods, angels exist. They are nothing more than ancient superstitions created by people trying to explain things like mental illness, etc. and for the life of me I cannot figure out why so many are still beholden to them in our modern age.

At this point, I've lost count of the number of stories I've read in recent months of people being killed or injured because someone was trying to perform an exorcism on them. Fortunately a handful are stopped before they can hurt others (the woman who drove into the ocean with her kids in the van is a good example - she saw "demons"), but many end tragically (the guy who drowned his "possessed" 3-year-old a few weeks back).

hello and welcome back to UM....

Im originally from India.. the land of superstitions and alike, as a child i use to hear stories about possessed people and exorcisms, it is normal in india...

grown up i realized it all BS, i have never seen a exorcism ect ect, but i have seen a girl 16-17yo acting very strange and people concluded very quickly that she was possessed.

I believe that she was acting strangely due to a unforeseen illness (mentally and physically), that we do not know about yet.

in your post you have highlighted 5 signs by your coworker about a possessed person from yemen, i do not believe was possessed because..

1. he may have learnt english, but did not use it or was afraid to use it

2. an illusion trick with the cigarette

3. it was already loosened enough for him to take the wheel off

4. maybe he was two faced, two different personalities, or a good actor

5. he hasn't had a bath for months

so i think it is very easy to fake a possessed, it is even more easier to fake a story

I watched a program on this subject, and an exorcist for the Catholic Church stated that he received several hundred phone calls a month from individuals claiming to be possessed. However, in 35 years, he him self has only preformed two exorcisms. He said Demon possessions are very rare, and that most are simply psychiatric conditions, or mental disorders. And on the other end of the spectrum, a side show traveling evangelist preforms up wards to 100 tent exorcisms a week. He gets those bad boys droppin and floppin nightly. So I recon it's all in who you want to believe. But as for me, the closest I got to one was when a women writing a book sent me an audio of one to listen to so I could give her my opinion of it.

I showed a Muslim this video and he thought it was completely real.In other words if somebody believes a Man flew on a winged Horse, and split the Moon in two, that somebody would believe anything.

I can wrap my mind around the psychological explainations and be good with it! That person is a bit batty! HAHA! And all demonic possession cases will carry me back to that idea. If I didn't see it, I don't believe it...and I sure as heck ain't living my life being fearful of the idea of it. But I lack a religion...so maybe that's my problem! :passifier:

I agree. If one is predisposed to believe then when they see something unusual, they immediately go there. I'm thinking of the "demonic house" in Indiana that has been all over the news of late. Some kid watches a You Tube video and learns how do a back flip off a wall and his clearly mentally disturbed full on believer mother is screaming "help me Jesus!", crossing herself, and lighting incense at the altar in the living room.

Ahhh...I see where you went with that friend! But, this gentleman is scarce to believe anything. If i'd have shown him a video like that, he probably would have biffed me in the head! He shared his "experience" with me despite his active protest about scary movies and all things paranormal related. it was a long, drawn out conversation that led up to his story. And in all circles I've expressed my interest in the paranormal...this cat had a story. Maybe its a mistaken situation and the guy in Yemen was mentally unwell. But it gave my friend the heebeegeebees just spitting it out.

oh snaaap! When I heard about that case in Indiana...and the kid up the wall...I immediately thought of "parkcore". if I spelled it right. That's the newest case lately so I'm glad you brought it up, Rafterman! TONS OF holes in that story!

Hollywood has the power to suggest.

Just look at The Exorcist, the Ouija board got mad powerful after that movie came out.

i recall reading something similar in an old book after a young girl died during exorcism.

And... According to the book, you are right on the money!

(Ref: Mysteries of the unexplained.) The book was published in 1982 though, 3.2 decades of education may have very well changed the law...?

Well think about this.

If you were a Demon?Meaning that not only can you take over someone's body, but you are able to perform supernatural powers while in that Human body?Would you alert people to your presence, or go to a Casino, use your powers to get rich, and use the money to temp people to sin by having sin filled parties?

Remember that by keeping your presence secret it will not scare people into faith.By using real world temptation you have better chances of making more sinners.By going around acting like a typical Hollywood Demon, or what Monks made up in the middle ages only works against your goal.

Jesus went around casting out Demons left, and right, but today there is sound observable science on why people act crazy with no need for supernatural cause. There is even parasites that attack the brains of animals so they get eaten by larger prey animals to complete the parasites reproductive cycle. For example an infected Ant climbing a blade of grass to be eaten by a Cow, or an infected Mouse running around out in the open to be eaten by, a Cat, or an Owl.The prey animal then deficates eggs of the parasite then they hatch, and the Larvae seeks another host to repeat the cycle.

I have known Muslims, and they are very superstitious which makes them relay false things as truth. The same Muslim told me about a time when while in the Middle East everyone saw a miracle in the sky, and thought it was an Angel.Long story short getting a description, and time frame it turned out to be the Comet Hale Bopp.

In ancient times flatulence was considered Demonic, Dust Devils were Demons roaming the Desert, and of course someone with a malfunctioning Brain was under Demonic influence.

The demons you speak of here are what I consider "the evil that men do". As for Satan's creatures...I'm not a believer. Many people have second or third hand experiences to relay (like my friend). I was just hoping to hear a few more by starting this thread. Its the supernatural aspect of demonic possession that peaks my interest. Is it possible or not? My search continues. The rest is just mankind's weakness and susceptibility to negativity. IMO.

My ex-wife.

Oh wait, she blames that on bi-polar disorder.

So, no, I don't "know" anyone that's been or is possessed. Most likely because that sort of thing isn't real.

As for that case in Indiana (I seem to be in that area), it was a hoax. Out of all of the reporting, out of all of the "expert" witnesses that seemed to pop up, no one could prove anything, as usual. They couldn't show anything that couldn't be debunked, their statements were always either from themselves (lying, or misrepresenting what they had actually encountered, or hyping it up so it was more "news-worthy", or always from someone else the speaker "knew"--and those people were always the pinnacle of honesty and their characters could never come into question.

Possession isn't always about religion or speaking in other languages, doing amazing things, ect.

Sometimes it can be subtle and for a moment you can feel as if you're being programmed by someone to be a certain way, like another personality has taken over.

I think this is how the idea of reincarnation comes into it. People who recognise places where they haven't visited get these feelings about it. It seems likely a spirit can possess someone in order to right wrongs or locate dead bodies or buried treasures.

Often possession is an awareness of something that lived before.

The things your friend experienced sound almost demonic and that isn't the same thing. These won't be the same kind of spirits. Sometimes cases of being possessed involve superhuman strength and vast knowledge of someone present in the room who they haven't met before. I wonder if some of these so-called demons might be the spirits of extinct animals that have nowhere to move onto to???

This is just my theory anyway.

I do believe in possession as I once was called in to try to help a full possession case, I also have experienced part possession myself and went throu dramatic depossession myself. Im not going to post my experience here again as I only posted in within the 5 days on a thread here (unfortunately I cant remember where to give you the link). So anyway.. due to my own experiences I do believe in this.. but with this being said.. Im finding it hard to believe what you are being told.

"The possessed fella loosened the lug nuts of a semi trailer truck with his bare hands and removed said tire and threw it across the yard."

This part isnt making sense to me... why would someone who is possessed.. obviously extremely possessed as they are supposively are using the strength of the spirit, want to even change a tire?

When I was part possessed, I didnt even possess any supernational strength except once my body adopted a posture against my control, that I wouldnt be possibly able to hold myself. A fully possessed person doesnt carry on normal mundane tasks for no reason. Why would a demon go change a tyre?

"The possessed fella was acting out of sorts...particularly nasty and mean"

That's quite normal in those partly possessed who are carrying an entity. Entities thou arent always spirits, crittery entity things in peoples bodies are far more common. Full possession is very rare.. Ive known 100s of psychics and healers over the years and only have experienced the one (a healer) who got possessed throu something she stupidly done (she was doing psychic surgery on people..removing bad crap from people at an psychic expo (we were working together) and did not protect herself..and this thing which probably came from a person we worked on who was carrying the worst energy Ive ever felt someone carrying... probably demon..it took her completely over.. leading her husband to call me in to try to help.

After hours of trying, I had to admit I couldnt help her thou..so I made her partner call an ambulance.. he didnt want to as it was clear it was a possession.. it was very weird.. (I wanted her to go to hospital as she wasnt even able to eat, drink or do anything in her state and had been without drink all day and night, it was like she wasnt herself there anymore at all ..Her body was being abnormal too.. she wasnt bendable at all when we moved her.. she was like moving a plank.

Nonsense, there is no such law here. If so, our contentious jurisdiction would accept such hocus-pocus as

a "therapy" and that`s not the case as these so called possessions are just psychological dysfunctions where

the help of professional physicians/psychologist is required and not of some freaks with red hats and black

capes on.

The case you reports here seems to be a genuine case of possession or, in kardecist spiritist terms, mediunity, a case of "to receive" a spirit, incorporate a one (spirit). In the context of this douctrine, there isn't demons bot, only human or humanoid spirits of disembodied spirits of individuals, units of beings endowed with self-conscience. Or be - there isn't possession without mediunity and this means a psychological open door.

The signs of behavior that are cited are indeed typical of a situation of possession:

1. Talk in unusual language or foreign.

2. Desire for cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and other substances, drugs - that alter the state of consciousness well how

can occurs libido alterations.

A 'invasor spirit does not occupy the physical body, doesn't wears the meat but controls the possessed consciousness and its physical resources.

The 'magic of the lighted cigarette and the smoke being expelled by the medium/the possessed is possible because tehe possession don't consists, in fact that the invasor spirit enters in the body of someone but means, a bond, an involvement of auras. The involvement allows ignite the cigarette and expel the smoke that cannot be really a smoke, but a tiny cloud of ectoplasm. --- http://en.wikipedia....asm_(paranormal) FOR MORE INFO ABOUT ECTOPLASM CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

3. Increased physical strength and violent senseless behavior, as a pure expression of hatred. Remember that spirits that

practice possession are dominated by negative feelings and are suffering of mental disturbs which include hallucinations.

* The 'Physical Strength of those spirits does not come from muscle energy. It is a powerful development of psychokinesis

capacity. Be a troubled spirit does not imply having metaphysical faculties (or powers) anemic. In Nature there isn't a

moral by deserving - in relation to the physical and metaphysical power of a spirit, a person, an individual . A spirit

can be at the same time, dangerously disturbed and powerful in relation to spirits that, many times, are 'good persons but

are also weak Egos, with their self-control (auto-possesion) in low development level - embodied or disembodied.

4. The smell of rotting flesh and the consequent result - the flies - is a strong sign of the presence - on-site - a disembodied in a low ethical level (or more than one) of Knowledge.

Also according to the Kardecism (and other traditions) - many disembodied spirits remain attached to the consumption of earthly substances, food, especially meat and by extension, the blood -.beverages, cigarettes etc. - this attachment, this desires can be the hell of many spirits.

Because in their spiritual bodies they don't have tactile conditions for directly consume of their passions, to eat, to smoke, to drink, to make sex. They depends from the embodied to consume what they still can to consume. The essences, the smells, the emanations of objects and persons, tastes, smells, the physical sensations.

Just as, according to tradition of Spiritist douctrine, the spiritual presence of the good, of the saints, is felt by the scent of flowers in a closed room (and no flowers, of course), unpleasant odors, especially blood and rotten meat are emited exalad by troubled spirits, tormented souls. Because they have the smell that they absorb at places that they frequent; places like cemeteries or, even - the deep of their own sepultures - yes, but also the animals's slaughterhouses.

WARNING: INFO FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS OF THIS TOPIC. This information is extracted from a personal study of the Spiritist Doctrine Kardecist or Post Mortem according Kardecist Spiritism. Does not reflect personal belief. My personal beliefs are bien, personal. So, ok, you disagree, do you think ridiculous, all right, but don't throws stones at me. Burn the books in your backyards.

Closest that I ever got to a real experience was when I was in school. We had a priest who told us the entire story of the movie, "The Exorcist." It was before the movie or the book even came out. He also told it correctly that it was a little boy who was actually possessed. I didn't run into that little piece of information being true until much later.

He said that while a seminarian he had been appointed as driver for an elderly priest who had been assigned to act as this exorcist. He drove him back and forth every day and had on a couple of occasions stood outside the bedroom door where the exorcism was taking place. As he would tell it, he would tell the class it made him angry. Even as a kid I realized it made him more than angry, he was still furious. He was mad and never held back in saying that the priest who was assigned was elderly. The exorcist was such a kind, gentle man and was not physically up to what the church had put on him. That going through it had caused his death from absolute exertion. He said it was so hard to stand outside that door and hear the couch being thrown at the old man and not be able to do anything to stop it.

I have never felt this guy was making up the story. Back then they never stood before a class of kids and talked about being angry with the church. I don't know how many felt, as I did, that it was the deepest kind of anger but I do know he left the priesthood about a year later and moved to California. What I have always wondered is if he was somehow involved in the book. He sure as heck knew that story. I have never been able to discredit it as just a story he had heard that he decided to use to scare us kids holy. It wasn't told from that kind of standpoint. It was told through his own sorrow that the demon didn't kill this poor, frail little old man, the church had when it sent him there.

Guess I should mention, no mention of the head spinning backwards just the physical assaults on the priest.
