Rare Goat-Sheep Leaves Farmer 'In Shock'

15 posts in this topic

An Irish farmer has said he experienced a "shock to the system" after a rare goat-sheep, or "geep", was born on his farm.

Pat Murphy, from County Kildare, said the animal, which has not been given a name, was born to a ewe last week.

The goat and the sheep must have been kept in the same area at the farm.

It will be interesting to see what it looks like as a mature animal. It is probably infertile, though.

I wonder why it's so rare. It seems like it's a 'mule', in a sense. Do they not expect it to live?

All of the deliciousness of a goat wrapped in profitable sheep wool?

Why has humanity not been avidly pursuing this end game beast for all of its history!

When asked if he would be sending the geep to slaughter, the farmer said that he would keep it as long as he could. What would they label the meat from that adorable little guy? Goat or lamb? Poor little fellow. The farmer has to make a living, but I hope he can spare the little one.

Ancient Astronaut; a young pig is a shoat after weaning, so there is already an animal called by that name.
