Shopping centre introduces 'overtaking lane'

A shopping centre is believed to be the first place in the UK to introduce an "overtaking lane" for walkers after ten-year-old girl complained she was being held up.

Meadowhall in Sheffield is trialling a new system whereby walkways are divided into a slow lane and a fast lane so that those wanting to amble through the centre gazing into windows do not hold up the serious shoppers.

A few years since I've been to Birmingham, but didn't the Bullring centre have one-way pedestrian lanes?

And the next step is little yellow bast***s slapping tickets on walking frames and little old ladies in the wrong lane.

And maybe the odd fat cop with a speed gun...don't want to miss out on more back door taxes do we?

This has got to be a joke. A 10 year old complains about people walking slow, and the mall hops to? What about slow walkers that want to access stores on the fast lane side, they gotta wait for breaks in traffic or just dodge around speedy walkers? Maybe shoppers will get blinkers to use while in the mall?
