HMRC 'plans to share personal data'

Taxpayers' personal data could be shared with private firms under plans drawn up by Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

If given the go-ahead it would allow HMRC to release anonymous tax data to third parties including companies, researchers and public bodies.

But former Conservative minister David Davis told the Guardian the plans were "borderline insane".

As long as it is truly anonymous I guess there is really little problem with it.

Lol at an ex-Tory minister calling one of their ideas "borderline insane"!

remember when the DVLA sold everyone's driving licence details. in the following weeks i was inundated with junk mail from car insurance companies and other various related companies. a complete and utter joke. the government was out of order then and will be again if HMRC does the same now. :td:
