Still Waters Posted April 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2014 Skin grown in the laboratory can replace animals in drug and cosmetics testing, UK scientists say. A team led by King's College London has grown a layer of human skin from stem cells - the master cells of the body. Stem cells have been turned into skin before, but the researchers say this is more like real skin as it has a permeable barrier. http://www.bbc.co.uk...health-27129861
freetoroam Posted April 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2014 It offers a cost-effective alternative to testing drugs and cosmetics on animals, they say. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-27129861 There are already alternatives so why are animals still being used??? http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-experimentation/alternatives-animal-testing/

paperdyer Posted April 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Even if the syn-skin costs more to use than animals, the cosmetic and drug companies should be legally forced to use it. These companies make enough money to eat the cost. Many people think that oil companies are bad fpr profits. Take a look at the cosmetic and drug companies.
