The UFO Trail

10 posts in this topic

The topic of Jeff Ritzmann's latest Paranormal Waypoint was alleged UFO cover up. The show aired on KGRA Radio the evening of Tuesday, June 24. I found listening and following along in the chat room to be time well spent.

As the episode came to a close, Ritzmann suggested he finds the topic quite interesting and could discuss it for hours. I can relate to that, and would therefore like to write some about it.

Buzz Killer of a Topic

For one thing, I particularly appreciated Ritzmann's willingness to address at length the complexities of UFOs as they relate to spy games, deception operations and disinformation. Important phrase here, please: This is typically not an activity that garners much support. As a matter of fact, careful and accurate examination of government UFO-related sleight of hand is entirely likely to substantially decrease one's popularity within the UFO community.

Counter-point is... Government is incapable of effective sleight-of-hand, look how easily they got caught at Watergate. No, Government could never pull off any big conspiracy. Certainly not Presidential assassinations or the UFO deal.

They quite handily kept the wraps on the Manhattan Project for quite a while during development......then for another extended period even after the bomb(s) was dropped.

Yet the Soviets were aware of the Manhattan Project before the FBI.

So you're suggesting that Government can and does keep secrets. So maybe the 60+ years of "flying saucer" reports are part of a secret project they are working on?

More likely many different projects, but even more likely the "flying saucer" explanations are diverse and spread over Government projects, misidentifications, natural phenomena etc.

"Quite a while" was just a few years. The press cooperated with the government 100%. The War Powers Act of 1941 made it difficult to reveal these things to the public. None of the witnesses living in the area of the atomic tests believed the ridiculous cover story that an ammunition dump exploded. The concept of a nuclear weapon wasn't well known at the time.

Oddly "Phantom Empire", a strange science fiction series from 1935 featuring the "singing cowboy" Gene Audry had aliens using "radium bombs" delivered by unpiloted aircraft that looked exactly like V-1 buzz bombs!

then for another extended period even after the bomb(s) was dropped.

That "extended period" lasted two days.
