A small hibernating frog may be vital in helping man conquer space, according to new research.

The burrowing frog, Cyclorana alboguttata, which grows to about three inches long, has the ability to hibernate for months without suffering any muscle wastage.

Though I read the article, I don't feel that it fully explained how exactly this would be beneficial to humans. Would they be able to isolate these genes and somehow incorporate them into a theraps for humans? I am slightly confused at how they could apply their scientific discovery in a pratical way. If somehow could help to explain this I would be appreciative.
