Neanderthals hunted and ate wild pigeons

3 posts in this topic

Neanderthals had the brains and guile to catch and eat birds, a skill many had assumed was beyond them. Bones found in Gibraltar suggest Neanderthals hunted wild pigeons, possibly by climbing steep cliffs to reach their nests.

I thought Neanderthals had brains as large and complex as modern humans, they fashioned tools, held burial rituals and if we are to believe current research bred with humans. i don't think putting pigeon on the menu would have been beyond them.
