Jet Airways pilot falls asleep

4 posts in this topic

MUMBAI, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Two Jet Airways pilots were suspended after the plane they were flying Friday plunged 5,000 feet while the pilot was asleep and the co-pilot was on her iPad.

The captain was on a scheduled break when the aircraft, traveling from Mumbai to Brussels, took a sharp dip. Turkish air traffic controllers alerted the co-pilot that they were flying at an altitude assigned to another plane. The co-captain, who was checking flight information on her iPad, then woke the pilot who took control.

Not a good week for aviation, innit?

You mean the co-pilot didn't notice the sharp drop in altitude? Uh, yeah, I'm sure she was looking at flight data on her iPad. I noticed in the first link that she was on her iPad but no mention of looking at flight data. :unsure2:

I'm glad I keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.

Would would have thought someone could perform a stunt far more dangerous than texting and driving?

Am resisting the urge to post about women and fast machines.

As for her not noticing a sharp drop in altitude, when a womans car produces a unusual noise, they turn the radio up, she could of been asking google.
