Cameron considers ban on UK jihadists

13 posts in this topic

British-born jihadists in Iraq and Syria could be temporarily banned from returning to the UK under plans being considered by the government.

The BBC understands UK nationals suspected of being involved in terror acts would be allowed to keep their British citizenship.

But they would be prevented from re-entering the UK for a period of time.

I think they should be let back into Britian...then arrested and charged with capital treason. Too bad we no longer lop off people's heads like they do. Oh well, 99 years in prison would suffice I guess.

I hate to be cliche so early but this is truly a slippery slope issue.

And a nice and complex one wherein multiple factors such as freedom of religion, faith, the rule of law, tradition, nationalism and the history of the Christanic-Islamic conflict are all brought into consideration.

And as we untangle this twisted net we have to confront the core issue....do we want people who have waged war against the fundamental values of our society to get a free pass to return to it and become members of it again....and here is the real problem....without consequence.

In all fairness they fought their wars outside of our national boarders so punishing them for actions that are not directly related to terrorism opens up all kinds of nasty little doors that we can't seal up with just a smile, a nod and a hopeful glance at the kids where in we imply this is your lasting problem.

We still have the gallows in the tower! Let's start making use of it again.

On a side note the English did have a lovely mobile gallows that they could wheel around and *take care of business* with in the 1600s (as I recall...too lazy to look up the dates until my head stops pounding).

Australian Police recently arrested a Jihadist on his way out of Australia to join ISIS. WHY??

Why not let the b****** go, but immediately cancel his passport and citizenship so he can't came back here bring his trouble with him?

Use a gallows? Why not a beheading machine, ala la madame guillotine? Slightly more effective, and doesn't always malfunction. And, most importantly, if these bleeding ******** are so into cutting off the heads of people, then this is in keeping with "their beliefs", and therefore should be very acceptable. :tu:

Look, who are we kidding. The UK government will do San Ferry Ann in this matter. They'll consult their lawyers, who then argue back and forth the legal issues, - whilst charging the government (in other words, us the tax payers) for this service, and we'll get the moral do gooders who fret and fuss about how wrong it is to remove a poor widdle lamb's passport even if they are carrying out what is very much illeagal actions overseas. My view? We know of at least four ****holes who have been filmed saying how glorius their fight is. So let's at least remove their right to travel. Can't be any doubt that they're not guilty. But if I was the Home Secretary, I'd add a little extra. That because of their actions, we are not only going to revoke their passports (and yes, doing that means squat. They'll just get another one) but we are also kicking out any and all family members from the UK.

repeal the Human rights act. reinstate the Treason act - job done. If the political will was there it can be done. no need to have anti terror laws of which there are hundreds. It's about time we made these people think twice, and show them we mean business.

This sort of thing reminds me of the end-days of New Labour. The various cabinet ministers back then would make populist policy statements, or promise new legislation, even when they knew that their European commitments (or HR commitments) would prevent them from every carrying them out.

Pure hypocrasy.

Here is the News. The government can't do ANYTHING about these returning Jihadists.

It cannot prevent them from entering the UK, providing that they have a passport, and can identify themselves as being the passport holder. That would violate its commitments under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, Article 13.

It CAN arrest them, but ONLY if it can give credible evidence - of a quality suitable for presenting to a Court - that the accused have, in fact, broken any UK law. But how do you prove THAT ?

So far as I am aware, it is NOT illegal to participate in a foreign Jihadist organisation. But even if it was - like I say - how on EARTH could you prove such a thing in an open court ?

The government is LYING.

What makes me laugh is we've totally lost control of our borders. 200 of these Jihadist's have already returned according to the Government. But i point to the fact that the ease of which thousands each year reach our shores illegally clung to the underneath of lorries - if its that easy. just imagine how easy it must be to go the other way as well. Like you say the government can do nothing. who do they think they're fooling? not us.

And what a surprise, the promised "tough measures" that were bandied about in the weekend news broadcasts aren't going to happen. Makes you wonder, does it not, just how much of a threat it would take to make this bunch of spineless, two faced shysters that we have in politics actually do something to make the likes of these terrorists actually feel fear? Y'know, make them consider that if you attack any British assets then their little 'ass'ets would be kicked in a fatal fashion.

As a member of the public - the employer of the morons at Westminster - I have a suggestion. We put together an armed unit, not a large mob, and they will attack and harass any threat to our shores. This new force will be made up of a couple of regular military personnel, but the bulk of this force will be that of each front bench party, plus any useless legal twits we employ who have done their best to make our laws work against the state. I can guess if this came to pass, we'd get action rather rapidly in order to ensure they wouldn't need to fight!
