Concrete Blonde - Walking in London

I was just pulling those that I liked off the top of my head. There's probably thousands of others songs about London, I guess. :)

Never heard that one. Thanks

Elljay, what about this one  -

Paul McCartney & Wings  -  London Town

Yeah, I was actually thinking of adding that one at the end, but I thought the post was a bit excessive as it was, with 9 songs, already. :)

It's interesting to me how music and film go together. The songs and music for The Wizard of Oz were written and recorded before filming began. The composer Harold Arlen was asked to write a song for Dorothy as she happily walked down the yellow brick road to see the Wizard.

Arlen thought, how do happy children walk? They skip! So he wrote the song in skip-time, so Dorothy could happily skip down the yellow brick road as a happy child would. Later, the filming followed Arlen's skipping song idea.

Everybody wants to live in a lie
But why should we delude ourselves
It's not as if we can't see something's wrong
Where's the duty to what's right
Intentions end with empty words
And chaos replaces order

Those who shout loudest
Impose their will
Upholding laws that serve a few
Declaring peace while the sirens sing
In the name of progress
The name of madness
Drum beats faster
Crowd chokes louder
And chaos replaces order

Oh when justice lowered a voice
It can't be heard
Vindication for every suffering and hurt
Let retribution hold dominion over earth
Because Judgment Day's not coming
Judgment Day's not coming soon enough
