UM-Bot Posted October 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2015 New discoveries beneath Berlin support the theory that Hitler escaped at the end of World War II. According to official reports Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and his wife Eva Braun both committed suicide in Hitler\'s bunker to prevent capture as the Soviet forces descended upon the capital. Four Winds Posted October 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2015 (edited) Maybe he did join some of his buddies in Argentina http://latinamerican...rld-War-Two.htm https://en.wikipedia.../Adolf_Eichmann That has been the rumor for a long time, maybe there is some truth to it? fred_mc Posted October 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2015 (edited) He definitely killed himself. He despised people who fled or let themselves be captured. Fighting to the last man and committing suicide rather than letting yourself be captured was his ideal. acute Posted October 17, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2015 Having watched a documentary on this recently, I am convinced that the Adolf and Eva shot in the bunker were not the real ones. They had lots of lookalike stand-ins for security purposes. The Russians would not conduct forensic tests on the bodies until the 1970's, and even then the results were dubious.

schizoid78 Posted October 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 17, 2015 Well, hard to say, but I believe he shot himself down there, or else he would have reappeared in some form to gain his power back. S
Sundew Posted October 17, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 17, 2015 An evil megalomaniac like Hitler could not keep his yap shut, even after moving to another country. Eventually he would have tried to reform the National Socialist Party in whatever country he fled to. Therefore I believe he was dead in the bunker.

Kanate Posted October 18, 2015 #20 Share Posted October 18, 2015 Hitler being an egotistical megalomaniac (and wannabe super villain to boot) by itself proves that he died at the end of the war. Weather it was in that bunker or not isn't really an issue at least I don't think. It could be just as likely that he was dead before that day and the Nazis were faking his still being alive then claimed he committed suicide in that bunker in order to make it seem as if he was practicing what he preached about never fleeing from a fight. Of course either way it kind of doesn't really make him all that brave since it either means he killed himself rather than face his enemies in battle or he tripped and hit his head in the shower or some such. Neither one are very dignified deaths. For that matter he could have just as likely choked to death on sauerkraut. I doubt many people even actually care one way or the other. I say let the psycho rest in whatever pit he's been tossed into be it shallow grave or something a bit more biblical.

Ealdwita Posted October 19, 2015 #25 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Dead as a door nail, whatever that means. Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. And Scrooge's name was good upon 'Change, for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don't mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country's done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail. A Christmas Carol....Charles Dickens (Even good ol' Charlie didn't know)
