I guess the most unexplainable thing that happened to me was a few months ago when I was at the Poudre Canyon with my now ex-boyfriend. We had parked the car off to the side and were sitting on the railing looking down at the rushing water. It was about 3am, a clear night but was still pretty dark. It was then I saw a weird light moving through the trees on the other side of the canyon. It didn't really look like a flashlight, was more like a lantern, he saw it too and figured it must be someone walking around like us as weird as that sounded. But the way it was moving didn't seem like it was something being carried by a person. It moved in really quick and random motions, and given the fact it was a steep canyon wall with lots of trees it didn't make sense that a person would be able to move like that, especially without making a sound since we heard nothing but the rushing water. Then boom it was gone. Wasn't something that really scared us but we still got the hell out of there.

Could this have been someone fishing using glowing lures? Hence the fast and erratic movements when they cast?

I hope I'm not going to be breaking the rules here ahaha. Because nothing really too scary happened in my life... not from what I can remember anyways. But I have a couple of stories that happened to my relatives, and I hope you guys enjoy them.

And from what you said about the toilet seat being warm, if that happened to me, I'd be out of the house in seconds. I don't mess around with scary stuff even though I'm so fascinated by it.

I already said this first story in a post, but why not say this again. This is from my dad's perspective: We were on a holiday for a few weeks with my siblings and my parents. We rented a fairly small house. Keep in mind that all the doors were locked and no windows were open, so there was NO way of anyone getting into the house. One night, I had to go to the bathroom. It was around 3:25 AM, I can't exactly remember. When I was making my way to the bathroom, I suddenly bumped into a tall looking figure that was standing in front of me. He was really, really tall where his head was almost reaching to the ceiling. None of my siblings were that tall, nor were my parents. So it wasn't them. Besides, they were all sleeping. He just stared at me before I couldn't hold it in any longer, so I just said "sorry" and ran off back into my room where my sibling was sleeping. I was shaking terribly. I then couldn't sleep for a few weeks because I had that vibe that there was a strange presence in the house.

And the last one is from my mother's perspective. All my family had some scary experiences except for me... I feel so left out haha. But then again, I'm very lucky as well.

This happened a year ago or so, when my mother woke both me and my brother up in the middle of the night. She told us to bring chairs from the kitchen and to bring them upstairs into her room because demons told her so. We kind of argued with her to go back to bed and not to worry about it, but she was just so stubborn so we just finally did it. She told us to sit down and wait for something to happen. She told us that the demons wanted to talk to me and my brother and that we should wait. After a few minutes, nothing happened so we just brought the chairs back down. My mother then went back to bed. The next day when we were eating dinner, we mentioned it to her. She told us that she always sees this girl that is on top of the closet. She says that the girl on top of the closet kind of crouches, and she just stares at her. She tells us that this happens almost everyday. She can't sleep with the doors open because she told us that someone might walk in, like a demon or something. Anyone mind telling me what that could be?

Sorry if this is long. But I hope you guys enjoyed. :) I also have a story where my brother saw a banshee, but I figured I wouldn't add it because it is very short as he told me that ages ago and I don't remember.

Wow Marcelina, those were good.

My scary experience happened in 94. I was 18 years old. For reason that would take to long to really explain, I'll just say that someone who move in with me didn't come alone.

Anyhow, I had the place to my self at night, and for the last few nights I had been hearing really strange things while laying in bed. Every night got louder. I'd hear what sounded like people running up and down my hall. Banging noises, like someone just pounding on the wall, ect.

Well the last night it happened was by far the worst. It sounded like there were 20 people in my living room, all whispering at the same time. Every few seconds you'd hear different individuals just laugh out loud. This one women's voice was the scariest. The running up and down the hall had changed to what sounded like  people walking slow, stomping their feet hard as they went. At that point, I had never been so afraid in my life.

It got so bad that I finally concluded that there must actually be people in my house. Really slow I got up from my bed an grabbed my bat. When I say really slow, I mean like probably 15 mins. Then I sat there contemplating my next move, an the sounds just got more active, taunting me to come out.

So I decided I'd jump up, run through the house turning every light one till I found who ever was there and make them pay. An that's what I did. As aggressively as I could, only to find no one there. An it was the last time it ever happened.

Back when I was in elementary school I was playing some games with my dad in my bedroom. Heres the layout of my house. Theres the front door, and then to your right will be the kitchen, to your left the room for the dog. And ahead of you will be stairs that lead to my bedroom (on the right at the top of the stairs) and my dads bedroom (left at the top of the stairs.) Well, it was dark out, and my bedroom door was shut. All of the sudden we heard the front door open, then it closed, someone walk up the stairs (not trying to be quiet either, just normally walking) and then opening my dads bedroom door. He jumped out to check and there was no one there. Its only happened to me once but it has happened to him multiple times. Before that incident and after. Most recent one was summer of last year.

Aye, thank you, but your story definitely beats mine if I were to pick which one is the most scariest. How did you even have the guts to stay in that place after hearing those noises. At the first night, if there was a window available that wasn't that far from the ground, I would just pack my stuff and jump out of the window. That would actually haunt me.. probably for life. Very scary nevertheless. Heck I'd probably pass out or something I'd be so scared. Even if I hear a slight noise in my house when I'm home alone I just start shaking and I'd be petrified. Good story! I enjoyed reading it :) It was a bad idea to read that at night....

Yea it was a crazy time in my life. I had lived there most of my life without a single reason to believe the place was ever haunted. The first couple nights it sounded like someone was there, but were really trying to be quiet. I knew I had locked up, so I just dismissed it and went to sleep. As they got louder, Id try to rationalize them. See at 18 years old, I (like many boys my age) thought I was the alpha male, an wasn't afraid of anything. I also didn't have anywhere to go, and it was late fall in NY. To cold to just leave unprepared with no shelter. I was stuck there.

The last two nights were when I actually became afraid. By then I began to expect the noises, so Id be listening close for them. That's went things seemed to take a hard turn for the worst. At that point the only rational thing I could come up with, as ridiculous as it sounded, was that people had actually broken in my house, an really didn't care if I heard them or not. When it all became to much, that's when my fight instinct kicked in. I learned the definition of courage that night.

I guess what ever it was just wanted me to lay in bed terrified, cause soon as I chose to confront, it all ended. That part of it anyway.

I'm still wondering what that could that be though. Very weird.

Well the person who moved in was a older cousin of mine. When he was two years old, he witnessed his father play Russian roulette at the kitchen table, an blew his own head off. He was all messed up with ptsd from Nam. So we all thought my cousin was kinda crazy from seeing that, cause he often talked about how his father was haunting him. Though his younger brother also said the house they lived in was haunted.

Personally I never believed them. Till I lived with him. We had many strange things happen for months before and after my experience.

That same cousin ended up killing himself with a gun as well. This was like 3 or 4 years after I moved away. That was like 20 years ago

Oh my, Russian roulette? I wouldn't even dare to play that if someone gave me a billion dollars. And to witness their own father blow his head off must be extremely traumatizing. I can't even get my head around that.

So apparently the father was haunting him... and maybe that could match up with that same cousin killing himself with a gun too. Well since he thought that his father was haunting him, he could of had the feeling to do the same as his father did or something along those lines. I'm sorry with what happened to your cousin.

Nevertheless, awesome story! It has a lot to it as well. Thanks for sharing :)

Yea I don't know if it was actually his father haunting him, or something making him believe it was his father, but yea, really messed up situation. When his father was playing RR, his Mom was also at the table. He put one bullet in the gun, then told his Mom she was next. But he died on the first shot.

I once shuffled a full deck of playing cards and held the patterned backside of each card up to an 11 year old girl and asked her to guess the card. I did this with each card, one by one and marked it as either a hit or miss. She guessed correctly for >70%. Not scary but something that raised my eyebrows a bit and I can't explain it.

Is she old enough to be taken into a Vegas casino?

  • 4 weeks later...

I'll join in, I suppose; seems like a good first post.

So, I live in Alaska. Gets pretty bloody dark and cold in the winters here. Now, I've got a couple friends I've had for a long while, let's call them Frank and Joe. Since we were like ten we've been having bonfires and such at my place. Well, one year, probably about five, six years back, it was maybe twenty below- cold enough that we couldn't get the fire started, so we were standing around a burn barrel determined not to break the tradition. It was probably about 11 pm, so pitch black out, with about a foot of snow, and fairly windy. We were in our volleyball court, so there was a bit of space around, but the woods start right at the edge. Anyway, as we we're standing there talking, there's a lull in the conversation. Frank and I are facing each other, with Joe looking off into the woods. Suddenly Joe stiffens, and Frank and I turn toward the woods. A sudden massive blanket of panic fell on us, and the next minute or two are kind of a blur. We got inside really fast, and realized we'd left some stuff out there. At fourteen, I was the oldest, so naturally they suggested I go out to get it. I shot that idea down hard. We eventually went out carrying large sticks and attempting to sing half-remembered hymns. The presence- whatever It was- faded, but we stayed inside the rest of the night. To this day I have never felt panic that strong.

That's pretty much what got me interested in cryptozoology and paranormal phenomena. I've been collecting stories from people I know for a while now.
