That is the situation with time at the moment of the Big Bang. There was no "before the Big Bang." But that idea hasn't been set in stone. There is a possibility that certain subatomic particles reach a point where they cannot be further compressed and are expelled from the singularity at near light-speed. Thus, the universe is eternal. The Big Bang becomes the Big Bounce. The truth of the matter is that no one knows for sure, so speculation is all we have - sort of like religion with a sci-fi twist.
