What is north of the north pole?

Longitudinal lines converge at the pole.  North of it, they have no meaning; they are undefined.  That is the situation with time at the moment of the Big Bang.  There was no "before the Big Bang."

But that idea hasn't been set in stone.  There is a possibility that certain subatomic particles reach a point where they cannot be further compressed and are expelled from the singularity at near light-speed.  Thus, the universe is eternal.  The Big Bang becomes the Big Bounce.

The truth of the matter is that no one knows for sure, so speculation is all we have - sort of like religion with a sci-fi twist.

The universe is infinitely exploding and retracting like this.

That is what I think.
